i've just had my engine bay done, its a bit more extensive than the one pictured.a panel beater did mine and it took him 6 full days. so at $50 an hour you can work out what ya gonna be up for.

^ Could we see a photo of the result?

How far do you wanna go? Replacing the battery tray (and opposite side) and smoothing that off isn't a huge lot of work. I plan to do that myself.

If you want to do the brake line sections (for the fully rounded inner guards) then you've gotta know what you're doing, because it requires pretty delicate sheet metal fabrication.

I don't know anything about welding over the Heater box section so that it's flat, but I can't imagine that is easy either.

I suspect it starts getting really out of hand when you're modifying Chassis Rails (like YEP-427 - Tiger Mica Big Block Chev LX Hatch)

will get some photos on monday.its in getting tubbed at the moment. the inner guards are smoothed (where the brake lines are) the pressing marks at the rear of the guards are gone.the rails have been de-lipped and now come to a square edge.even the pressings in the top of the rails have ben cut, hammered and rewelded and the whole bay was seem welded. (hope i dont have an accident  ) plus theres a heap more.

There is a lot more work done to that car other than engine bay smoothing.
The wiring is hidden, the brake lines have been re routed and all parts look new. And that is just what we can readily see!
In short a lot of time and money has been spent and that is before the show quality paint job.

Are you heavily cashed up? lol

I wont even mention the engine change and how much that costs! I know cos I have just had my engine changed to EFI setup. Of course the engine swap need not happen to have a clean engine bay.

If you are still serious and have thousands to spend before you do paint and engine then you could try and pm a forum member named CHEVED (not sure if he is still around or not). Failing pm'ing him I might still have his contact details which I can supply. He does top work and can easily smooth your engine bay and he is cheaper than any pro panel shop. Like I said be sure to have thousands on hand rather than hundreds.

Cheers

i left the seam at the top but its recessed for the dizzy.i dont wanna cut to much of it up because theres a fair bit of strength in those seams.

^^^^^^ very nice work on the bay above, looks around 150 hrs or so.
