I will only have a couple of stouts, but will have a huge stockpile of Six Banger IPA, as well as a large supply of two different lawn mowers available.

Yeah Gene
I have been busting my hump trying to get it all back together for toranarama after a full drive line overhaul (on a driveline that would not have even done a 1000k's)
Any way just fired the new engine up and the effin sump is leaking!
It's a new sump and rubber gasket. Bolts are tight but the ass is leaking just above the starter motor. I had to come inside before I damaged it with rage.

I really don't want to pull the engine back out as it has a mongrel exhaust that can be a pain not to mention everything else that needs to be removed.
Currently looking at threads to see about dropping the k frame while holding the engine on the engine crane and getting the sump off that way. I have never done it that way but I think/ hope it's possible because I will burn it if it has to come out.

Hi Paul,

Can you put something in the oil to stop the leak?

and then change the Oil after.

Any way just fired the new engine up and the effin sump is leaking!

Nothing worse than a sump that leaks apart from a blown engine

Hi Dave. Not sure. It's a bad leak and I'm not to keen on that stop leak stuff on a new engine. I think I will just hold the engine with the crane and drop the k frame down. Remove the sump and hit someone with it.

True Gene. But now I have had both!

fingers crossed here for ya.

Yeah.
For some reason this car hates me I am sure of it. Everything has been done right with good parts yet in the 3 or so years I have had it it spends more time up on blocks.
I sometimes think I should have built a standard one but then where is the fun in that.
Looks like plenty have held their engines in and dropped the k frame. Once again this forum has been invaluable.

V8 LX sump gasket change while motor still in.

I hooked up an evac system this time in the exhaust but when I ran it tonight it didn't suck squat at idle and actually blew back through the one way valves. They only seem to close when a bit more pressure is against them. Might just bite the bullet and fit a vac pump I think. Just wish it was a chev. Can't seem to find mounting brackets for the holden 308.

If I do make it to toranarama I will be the one with the forsale sign on my car lol.
