I had a good talk to my daughter Tracey on the weekend in relation to the GPS/GPRS trackers, She is a sales manager for Rhino security in Sydney. Some of the conversation when over my head so I will only give you the basics. Tracey said she would send a link soon for me to post up so everyone can use and see how their system works and the benefits.
The tracker is both GPS & GPRS and takes advantage of the Telstra 3&4g networks. The tracker device was designed, software written and engineered by their company electronics engineers and has been on the market for over eight years.
Tracey explained that although the tracker unit must be of good quality it's just as important to have good software written for the unit and this is where she believes their system excels and many fall down. When using their system you can directly log into the Rhino security tracker website, enter you login number and view you cars current position on Google maps including Google street view so you can even see in real time a view of the street and house if needed. The portal allows for the user to view the speed of the car and of course the direction on Google maps if the car is being driven. The cars position on Google maps is updated every 20 seconds. You car also go back in time and can be viewed for up to three months. When you purchase the tracker unit it becomes yours and not some other monitoring company's.
I have asked Tracey to get some costing. To be confirmed but as a guide around the $240 which includes pre paid Telstra sim card and the first 3 months monitoring. The tracking monitoring by Rhino security is 24/7 and works out at around $1 per day.
Hope the above helps.
Lenny.

Thank-you Tracey and Lenny,
That's great News, especially the Google Street View bit,
and be watching for the extra information.
Just a couple of Question's for later:-
- so do we pay about $1 a day to keep the service running after 3 month's, and can we stop at say, any 3 monthly period?
- is the 3 month ( back in Time ), so you can view the History?

G'day
Sorry for the delay in getting this to you.
The information below was sent to me from my daughter who is a manager at Rino Co. This email is a standard general inquiry letter for dealers. The last part of the email refers to the dealer to client contract and commissioning.
Hope this helps,
Lenny.
The Rhinotracks unit can provide you with 20 second updates, 3 months tracking history and also provide you with your speed each update.
The unit can be installed anywhere inside the vehicle (generally placed under the dash or drivers/passengers seat) as long as the antennas can point to the sky through glass/plastic.
You can wire the device to either accessories (to get a log on/off times) or to the battery (incase you are worried about the vehicle being towed).
There is a sim card installed which sends GPS/GPRS information to our Rhinotracks website which you can access 24/7 via your email address & personal password.
You can login to view a demo account and get a feel of how to use it before you purchase.
As you can see we set it on Google maps so it is nice and easy to operate. The software is also designed and updated in house to give you the latest technology. See the link below to view a demo account.
http://www.rhinotracks.com.au/login
We can do 1 of 3 things for you.
1) Sell you the device, send your customers the contract and activate the unit. This is now ready to go.
2)Sell you the device + three months tracking upfront. You charge your client, we send the customer the form and once this has been received we then activate the unit and ready for install.
3)we sell you the device + 3 months tracking upfront and you fill in the contract, then you charge the client directly.
The subscription service is $1+ per day, charged 3 months upfront, the quarterly. The contract goes for 2 years but you can put a hold on it if you want to change vehicles.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Many thanks,
Tracey.

Hello Tracey and Lenny,
Thank-you for getting back to us with your 'RhinoTracks' excellent tracking service.
I Clicked the website link, and choose the Demo account,
and was a little bit of checking the various features, until worked out that 'Demo L' actually was a live account.
So I clicked on History, then clicked go, which gave me the start of the Day at 15 seconds past midnight today the 26/08/2014:-
- then I see the street picture/roadmap of where the 'Rhino Tracks' is now/been in real time, updated every 20 seconds.
( 9 Hannabus Pl, Mulgrave, NSW / 4 St Johns Rd, Marayalya, NSW ).
- then I clicked on the times of this morning until I see the Tracker start moving ( 08:15:39 ),
with step by step street/roadmap views of movement at 20 second intervals, until stopped ( 08:30:18 ) for the rest of the day up until now.
- after this, I selected the Start time again ( 08:15:39 ), and pressed play, and seen the speed in kph,
as the Vehicle traveled, starting and stopping, reaching speeds in this case of 83 kph.
- I also checked 3 months ago today, and seen where the Tracker had been since then, up until today.
So for anyone needing a GPS Tracker using Google, I say the 'Rhino Tracks' has the Information needed to keep us with good Visual Timing.
Question:-
Can we tell which Car/Vehicle the 'Rhino Tracks' is in/near via Google Maps?
In any case, this unit has opened my eye's up for Future uses.

G'day
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Many thanks,
Tracey.
Hello Tracey,
How much is the Device please,
and does the plus sign after the $1+ a day cost,
mean the unit cost only or the 3 month's up front part?

Just used the RhinoCo Chat system,
and Crystal answered, asking how can we help,
so I asked for a Perth RhinoTracks-st2 Dealer,
and Crystal replied with:-
Quote - Esperance Communications is one of our preferred resellers. The phone number to contact them is 08 9071 3344. - End Quote
Not bad for 5 minutes of my time.
So I rang them for a Price,
and Karen said that she will call back,
and wasn't sure if there was one in stock.
So I await for a Phone Call back now,

Just received a Call back from Kara ( not Karen ) sorry,
and they can supply/quote and install the unit, depending on the vehicle type.

Which brings us to, Hiding the Unit,
so the Thief's are unaware of such weapons.

The Rhino seems a bit expensive at $240 plus $365 per year monitoring.
You can buy a GPS tracker on eBay for less than $80 and get a sim card for around $70 per year.
You could spend the money you save on security to stop the car being stolen in the first place. The extra functionality of the Rhino Track makes it suitable for fleet monitoring. If you only need theft recovery then the basic GPS trackers will do the job.

We defiantly need a Samurai Trunk Monkey,

Just a thought if you buy one from eBay
Get it sent to a P.O. Box and not the address where you keep your vehicle
Trunk monkey would be great for cars, could be a little distracting for motorbikes
