I have a LX Torana hatchback that has been sitting in a shed for years. It looks like it was in the process of being turned into an A9X but was never finished. The cars seems to have many parts that look like off an A9X. The only one that I am certain is A9X is the radiator. Photo of 2 radiators together, the one with the number stamped on it is A9X. I have posted photos of the front end, diff and rims. Just want to know if they are A9X and if so, how much are they worth now. The rims are 7 inch with an 1 inch offset but when I removed the tyre there was no stamp inside, just on the outside around the valve, MI 0 4 14 JS. The steering rack had stamped on it 9940277 which I believe is UC Torana. The LH Steering arm has stamped on it GM5249 which I believe is L34. The stub axle looks similar to an A9X that I have seen in this forum. Is the compression bump stop common to the A9X or to cars with RTS? The diff looks like Salisbury with disc brakes, (discs and calipers not fitted but have). The upper brackets on the car have been modified because A9X had UC floorpan to suit the Salisbury diff. Please feel free to comment if any information I have posted is incorrect.

A9X stub axles are HZ One Tonner stub axles. They are the same as HQ-WB just made heavier and heat treated.

Your steering arms are L34.

Right 9935250 (GM5250)
The diff does not appear to have the A9X bump stops so it is probably a modified Salisbury from a HQ-HZ sedan.
The A9X did not have a UC floorpan to fit the Salisbury diff, the UC floor pan is completely different to the A9X floor pan. GMH produced a patch section to suit that Salisbury diff in the LX floorpan.

I used to have an LX years ago that I trurned an early LH crossmember into an A9X copy, and also stuck an A9X Salisbury into it, but the mods don't look like mine did.

We did a sunbird hatch for a customer a couple of years ago (2-3) which had a complete genuine A9X front end on it, those parts were for sale back in the day before the big boom hit

Thanks ls2lxhatch

On this angle it is clear that the bump stops are taller than standard so possibly A9X.
On this angle it was not so obvious.

Hi Nick,
Nice lot of parts, and the 5/8 inch thick Coil Springs on the front too.

The diff is A9X, it has the bulged tubes that go into the casting, all Salisbury diffs other than A9X were same diametre all length.

Was the A9X radiator different to a standard V8 Torana radiator, apart from added thermo fans?

It was a fine 2 core with sender in top tank only, very hard to find the original style core for the real ones.
