I use John at JVR in Blacktown and have just installed his 'race' gearbox. Top bloke and extremely helpful.

He is not AussieFourSpeeds.

All new gears (with 1.38 third) and larger lay shaft mod. $850 exchange.

I had a 1.25 box from John and flogged it at track days and drag meets. Only replaced it as I am doing extra track stuff and after four years thought it was time for a refresh and bonus of better ratio.

Casing all painted. Used epotec etch then a 2k red oxide that was matted down.
With Jonos help he pressed on the bits to main shaft and input shaft. We then assembled Main shaft and cluster but I forgot to fit reverse gear.
Bugger, pull lay shaft, main shaft out and fit forgotten gear.
Another thing to note is the circlip on front bearing in kit is wrong size which keeps front retainer from seating properly.

The selected levers that are fitted to the side cover have worn so are sloppy. I think to fix this I'll have to weld the hole sides then file to fit?

To any beginner considering doing their own rebuild box, it's doable but having help at hand is advisable.
Thanks Jono. :-)

Welded 1st 2nd selector hole and filed that to fit, not recommended, time consuming with a small file.

Dug out some spares but all 6 are different. Decided to cut and weld a good base to the required top.
