hey all, been a while since i've been on the forums. havn't had any internet for the last six months so it has been hard. anyway, i havn't been slacking off to much, i got a bit done so far. firstly, i've finaly done it. i've turned 18, and just as i promised, got my torana tat. got it yesterday (sat the 15th) here it is for all to see....
Posted Image
its just the goovy looking 70's looking torana thing, i changed the color of the car to match mine, plus it stands out better. i like it. i like it a lot. pledges my undieing aliance to the torana.

also, i have gots me a new bike. only got it yesterday to. already put a few hundred klicks on it. its a 03 kawasaki gpx 250r. nice fun bike, only has 10,000 on the clock and has enough power considering i have only had my license for a few months. payed $4200 for it, so has slowed the car down a tiny bit whilst i pay off that loan. heres some crap shots of it beside my old 82 suzuki gsx.
Posted Image
Posted Image

the torana hasn't progressed to far. about all ihave done is put in a full manual trimatic. its a full race prep box, i know a few blokes running 10's with the same setup so should be fine for me. controled by a b&m pro ratchet, and with a bloody big permacool trans cooler. its a good fun box, hasn't got the pickup the old manual has due to higher gear rato's but is still good fun. pulles well from about 60 and over. does 55mph in first, 85mph in second and third, well i havn't found out yet. heres some conversion picks....

next thing is the diff. with a 2.78 bango single wheeler its not really lively, so i'll b e putting in a tractor (9") diff soon i think. i was going to put in a volvo diff, but got the shits with no one wanting to do the conversion for me so have decided just to go with the tractor diff.one bloke wants 3k to build me up a diff to bolt strait in, any ratio and width i want, 28 spline billet axels, fully rebuild lsd center, ect ect. that sounds fairly good, but i'm gonna hit him up for a few extra niceties like strange aluminium carrier, aluminium pinion support, 31 splines, ect ect. basicaly a total overkill diff, but i'm all about excessiveness. if i can get that for under $4500 i'll be happy. i have $2500 saved up for it so far, that only took me two months so it shouldent be to long i hope.

anyway, i'll see when i can get back on. catch yas all later.

heres some crap shots of it beside my old 82 suzuki gsx.

Does that mean that it will be permanently repacing the GSX? It wasn't exactly "old"...

Diff sounds good, and I'd love to hear a bit more about the internals of the Trimatic some time. Must say I don't recognize the console :S

Anyway, I've definately missed you presence on MSN and these Forums over the last few months. Is this a one-off oppurtunity, or will you be coming back on a little more regularly?

Haven't had a good chat to you in a while, hopefully i'll get an oppurtunity to catch up with you a bit better if you have some time. Take it easy buddy

car, bikes and tattoo all lookin good boi. wat sort of seats are they in the torry? also i'm gettin a tattoo tomorrow night, how would u rate the pain on a scale of 1 - 10. 10 being "i wanted to cry and scream STOP but i had a mate there so i couldnt"

scale of 1-10 with 10 being "i wanted to cry and scream STOP but i had a mate there so i couldnt" and 1 being no pain, i'd put it about 6. not to bad at all. worst thing is the after time, it peals and itches. like sunburn a few days after you get burnt and it peels.

yes a lot of money for a 9", i agree. but in rocky there aint much. i'll try some interstate places, but postage might outweigh the benefit. motor will be a 202 with nitrous, with posibility of a bent eight going in a bit later.

heath mate, yeah, long time. might be on a bit more soon cause were finaly geting net at the house. so yeah, should be cool. the gpx is replacing the gsx, as soon as i get aroudn to cleaning it up and selling it. the gpx is far more fun lol. oh yeah, and console is out of a jb camira....

and yeah, more picks of my car will be coming one day....one day....

UPDATE 25/4/07 after a very very long wait the diff is finaly in the back of the car. all im waiting on is some custom springs to clear the rear callipers.

final specks for the diff are:

9" ford
LSD
3.9:1
31 spline moser axels
new bearings clutch packs etc
F100 housing
shortened 32mm overal
vb commy rear disks

heres some picks:

diff painted (by yours truly naturaly)

and the thing in the damb car, finaly. note lack of springs. these should be done tomorow. theres a little bit of work to do before she's driveable, main thing i keep forgetting about is to get a breather for the damb thing lol...

i also moved the rear seat belt mounting bolt for a bit extra clearance, now my 235's fit easily.

Posted Image

i've also been slowly working on the next motor. the already worked cyl head (has seen low 13's in a lj) is back at my local speed shop getting tweaked a bit more, the greasy gravel cam is on order, weird and wonderfull things like crank triggers are in discussion and carbies have been polished. i have picks of the carbies lol. i've already installed an msd digital six, and wired in the dual stage rev limiter, damb its fun lol. heres some picks of the shiny carbs.

Posted Image
Posted Image

thats about all i have to share atm, not many picks cause my camera is playing up but i'll get more of diferent stuff shortly. im fairly getting into the car now so progress reports should be reasonably continuous.

catch yas.

the polishing i payed for. it cost me a sniff over $300 to get the manifold and three carbies done, carbie bodies, float bowls, float bowl lids, and the domby thing on the top lol. would take more picks but as i said my cam is playing up grrr.

and yes heath, should be able to be people in the back...

Bomber how did you go handling the pain with getting the tatt. I got my first about 18 months ago on the back of my left shoulder. It felt like I was being cut with a stanley knife. Bloody hurt but I got through it and will be getting another soon. Cheers Steve.

alrighty. the bloody thing is finaly back together. after many urdles i managed to shoehorn the bloody big tractor diff in the back there.

its nto bad, i thought id loose a lot of power, but it seems to accelerate a bit quicker then it used to. the twin leggers are definitaly fun though.

now, not having to many really good outside shots of her, i enlisted a mate of mines help, and we went burning all around rocky taking picks of her.

the ride height is currently a tad high, specialy on the back. from certain angles it looks like a bloody tractor, but oh well :P.

i appologize in advance to any dial uppers.

pick of the thing in my back yard, showing off all the nice shiny stuff under there.

hungry jacks car park

next we went to the kershaw gardens to get some picks of her infront of the waterfalls.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

then we decided to head out to the igloos to get some industrial type shots...but there was a problem. ran out of fuel half way there lol
Posted Image

so dad ran some petrol out to us, stuck a few litres in there then powered off to the servo, her natural habitat, where here you see dan filling her up :P
Posted Image

back on track and with a full tank, we head back out toward the igloos, industrial way.
Posted Image
Posted Image

we were trying to get some shots of the three types of scenery, natural, industrial, and epic. the waterfall was natural, that is industrial, epic is next.

this is at a lookout up mt archer. we were trying to get some shots with rocky in the background but didnt succeed, some nice mountain shots came out though.

time for a bit of a recap i do believe.

i first purchased the car in 2002 at the tender age of 14, for the princley sum of $350. she looked something like this

Posted Image

what followed was a two year strip down and rebuild, doing nearly all the work myself.

specks at the time were standard 173, m22 box, and 2.78 bang-go. it had a rather nice sony sterio, custom interior and paint, disk brake front end, just a good little cruiser.

the first thing i got bored with was the sterio, so i tore it out and put all alpien gear in there. alpine mp3 player, alpine type s front splits, alpine type s 12" sub, and a alpine v power 2 chanel running the fronts with a 350 amp monoblock running the sub. it sounds a treat and even with the new diff you can still hear it at 100kph.

the next thing was the motor, i pulled the 173 down and rebuilt it, putting in some very mild gear, heatseeker stage 2 cam, very mildly worked head, twin strombergs, and the geni extractors and 2.5" mandrel bent system i had from the first build that is there in preperation for the next motor. also it was running a msd 6al and blaster 3 coil, which has now been upgraged to a digital six. again in prep for the next motor.

the first thing to break on me was the front brakes of all things, one of the hard lines got a little rip in it completley ridding me of a brake pedal one sunny afternoon. so i redid the front brakes with xu-1 slotted rotors, got the front callipers rebuilt and put spacers in them for said disks, ferodo ds2500 pads and braided hoses. this setup is ok but is in for another upgrade as you will learn in a minute.

the next thing to break was the m22. infact i stripped a few teeth off first gear. hmmmm. that takes us to the first page of this thread where i shoehorn the trimatic in there.

you already know all about the diff, the next thign to get changed. supprsingly i never broke the bang-go.

the things to do list is getting shorter but still rather long. it includes (in some kinda order) getting some center caps for those rims, getting some lower profile rear tyres (bridgestone 245/50/14 sounds good) and lowering the back end a bit so she dosent look so much liek a tractor, front brakes upgraded to hq stubs wiht girlock cast callipers and laylend rotors to bring the front wheels in a bit, fit the konis i have sitting in the shed to the front, get some stiffer front springs, and finish the balls out 202 im sticking together and drop it in.

all that done i might just be able to cruise around and enjoy the car for a little while lol.
