As far as i know you buy the gas that is in "their" bottles then they charge you a rent fee for the bottle that is it in,who knows even if the gas mob own the bottle.

^ How did you talk them into letting you own the bottle?

You purchase the gas and rent the bottle on a daily basis here in Sydney, Upon presenting the empty rental on that bottle is due, And within their rules not allowed to own the bottle......

No i mean the actual bottle. You can buy the bottle and keep it for however long as you like. You pay for the swap fee when you run out, like LPG. Blair is that size D?

Same here, daily basis then just pay rent for the number of days you had the bottle, must be a new company or something?
BOC don't let you own the bottle,CIG never did it and neither do Air Liquid.
Be nicer if you could "own' the bottle and forget the rental fee.

Thats what im trying to say. Speedygas now SELLS the bottles. No rental no nothing. Check them out they have agents all over aus.
A good reason to use straight CO2, gas itself is also cheaper to boot
Another good point. I emailed them asking about pricing for purchase and refill (swap). You always get people saying CO2 is crap but i was surprised to see a lot of people in the US mention it in their videos.

Uh huh,it comes down to beer gas
I think i will check out if we get the speedygas options up here, some of the mob up this way don't know or care what options are
available because they simply don't want to get involved...bit backwards from my way of thinking.

Tried one of those little ones first time round, ended up better off paying for an E2 size from BOC despite the rent.

You can purchase your own bottle through gasweld one of cost for a full bottle then a change over/swap cost
I just got a cylinder for my tig one off cost then a charge of 45-whatever depending on size of bottle

Speedgas will sell you a bottle, any size you like, and you own it and only pay for the refill, which it turns out they simply swap anyways.
The refill is dearer than through the normal companies where you have to rent a bottle.
Myself and the neighbour worked out that if you use a bottle a year its cheaper to rent, but it you use one every two or three years you will break even after a few years and then your ahead, that's for an E size Corgon or MIG mix.
Price off the top of my head is initial purchase for an E size full of gas about $580, and a refill at $180, as of earlier this year in SE QLD
Its easy to say its way too expensive at that price, but when you think back about the 15 years of bottle rental you have paid at best part of $200 per year its a no brainer for home use. For the past few years I've been paying just over $60/qtr or $240/yr in rental!
I now have an E size Speedgas bottle on my MIG...

The only one they don't do is acetylene
Posted 18 August 2014 - 08:10 PM
The D size is $339 and E $479.
Cant go wrong if you are the type that wont finish a bottle in one year. Wouldnt even waste my time with bunnings cylinder as they probably have 6min of welding in them. I was under the impression that it was against the law to sell them. So it really just a matter of preference for the company?
