Ok so its been a little slow going, but no rush, the EH has 3 months rego so ill have a bit of time before the engine comes out.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, ive been getting more weight out of the car. All sound deadener has come off the floor, any brackets not needed are gone, door check straps, locks, intrusion bars, window regulators & window glass, gone.

So now we're going to have some plexiglass windows... if you hadn't worked that out. Should get to cutting them out & fitting on the weekend.
Also slapped the "headlight protector" headlights in, front grilles & added some mooneyes, maybe they'll stay...

Jonsey,
In a weird kinda euro way I'm looking forward to the launch day of the German with aussie thongs as apposed to sandal's !
you could call the car " germinator" or the " red baron " that's a cross between the german heritage and the holden red 6 LOL

Also, here in the US, thong means a completely different thing and it just makes it funnier.

So the plexiglass windows are in & secured.
Made up some thin alloy triangles to cover the rear vision mirror openings on the doors & stuck them on.
Now we're into the cool stuff, wiring. I like it coz I don't get as dirty as I would with spanners! Made a start by mounting the "harley davidson" battery & making the main leads for the kill switch & starter, fuse box & ignition switch.
Its about this point I really need the engine in though... but we'll see how we go.
Trial fitting the radiator & fabing up some brackets for it while im waiting.

Go the german thong racing .
i have an old GTR badge i'll donate - send across your mailing address and i'll post.
I'm no expert with wiring BUT so I have been told you need to put a relay into the alternator wiring to stop the " power feed back into the system " when the car is turned off at the kill switch.
I have had mine checked and it all looked good and it's still feeding back through the wire and will only " kill when the ignition in switched off ".
fix - put a relay into the wire.- don't ask me which wire but it runs off the alternator

Can't say I've heard about the power feedback thing but I'll have a look into it. Do you run any "special" (ie non standard) kind of alternator that might be causing it?

This is going to be a great little car. I like the diet thing, my LC is full of holes, no CD player, no sound deadener, leather straps for interior door handels even drilled the clutch and brake pedals. Have to help that poor little Holden 6 as much as possible. Looking forward to see it up and running.

Real quick update.
So now that i'm SUPER bored, I decided to take the bumpers off to find any more weight to trim.
Found it!
Front & rear bumper supports are gone along with their mountings, now I'll just make up some alloy brackets to hold the outer skins on with.
Total weight loss, 13.5kg! Pretty happy with that...

What about window regulators, bonnet & boot hinges, door check straps, i've even drilled small holes in my brake and clutch pedals. Just about anything that gets bolted on gets drilled. Thinking about putting my heavy gearbox cross member on a carefull diet.
