I love the old red motor in its original body , but I would go an LS1 any day in a project car , if it fits . They are so cheap these days and are so much fun to drive . of course if you already got a screaming 202 lying around you might as well put it to good use.

Cheers fellas, it was a fun kinda project, just need the time to use it now.
There's a little more happening behind the scenes at the moment, fixing up teething problems, repositioning gauges & switches, and getting my set of 2" su's happening.
Slowly slowly.

Quick update....
Got this lot in the post the other day, yay!
d046b71e72a01fc5b67f317fb7eac2c4.jpg

I also stole the pushrods from the Beemer for the engine going into the EH so I now have the opportunity to get the perfect length for this one! Crow moly rods at 9.350, a smidge down from 9.450.
Next will be moving the gauges & switches closer so I can reach the things.

There is a method of fitting the butterflies and shafts. Hope you're aware?

Well I didn't frOck it up on the 1 3/4's, but feel free to share. Are you talking about the way that the throttle disc is chamfered a certain way on its edges?

Bling bling

Yeah...... I think they'll get painted

Back off the idle screws to nothing so the butterfly can totally close against the throat wall. Leave the butterfly screws loose a whisker and open and shut the butterfly. This lets the chamfered edge of the butterfly seal against the throat wall. Hold the butterfly shut with one finger and tighten the butterfly screws with the other hand while at the same time try and hold the shaft shut.

If this fails, put your left leg in, pull your left leg out, put your left leg in and shake it all about........................ :spoton:

I missed the meet you went to at Mildura, I am usually there in an E30 also (different kind of power) and they are not a common sight here,
I have been trying to find info on it since seeing your name and car on the entrants list and stumbled on this thread researching something else, well done on an awesome car. I often joked about putting a 235 stroker in one for many years knowing the pain it would inflict on the BMW purists,
Awesome car!!

Cheers Glenn, make yourself known next time you see my name down on the entrants list at a meet there mate. My folks live in Mildura so it's pretty convenient for me to run the car there.
I'd be keen to see your Beemer out there too bud, there's not many that ive seen on drag strips in my time. What's under the bonnet of yours?

Sure will, I just couldn't make it when you ran. I saw the pics from after the meet but there was no mention of times.
The last timed event "Race Your Mates" meet prior to that one we had 3 E30s there, a 318is 4cyl, a M52B25 6cyl and mine which is a 1uzfe *cough* Toyota V8, all manual, all on street tyres. I wont go again on street tyres to a timed event, traction is a problem, especially manual and best I could manage was 8.55 @ 79mph.
Look forward to seeing it and meeting you, cheers

They are such a great shape, especially when done right

I'm trying to imagine what road your next e30 would take bomber.... Set up for corners, manual, sr20 turbo?

Nice engine choice too Glenn, would be a pretty cool deal to have on the street.

E30, wide body M3 kit and an E90 M3 V8 and 6 speed.

Dunno if it will fit or how well you could make it handle, but with no traction control, stability control or ABS, Lock me in!!!

Lol! So as above but an S54 with a turbo strapped to the side putting out something in the vicinity of 1000rwhp? After watching a few youtube vids of exactly that, I'm keen!
Very keen on the wide body thing, but this is more weight, requiring more hp which in turn requires a ridiculous amount of cash. There lies the problem. I'll stick to no body kit for now....:)

Back in 2" Su land, they're nearly ready to go on. Full kits with new throttle shafts & blades, UP needles and 30 degree fuel bowls. Ported the manifold out to 2" (not much thickness on the inner edges of the runner now), cleaned up the bodies with the dremel taking out the step at the jet & anything else that got in the way of airflow.
Took some width out of the throttle shaft, a little differently than when I did the 1 3/4". This time I shaved down both sides as opposed to completely removing a whole side.

Shaped the pistons a bit different this time too, hopefully my ideas pay off....
Gave everything another descent clean before assembly, add a little bit of bling, and hey presto!

The difference a set of carbs can make, frOck me, it sounds like I've just done a cam swap or tickled the head again. The note has definitely changed.
And if it doesn't go any better, at least they look good:)

Moved the switch panel to a more easily accessible spot too.

Great work.
Can i ask why go the path of a 202?

You can buy kits to fit LS into e30.

I am currently fitting an e36 M into an e30 for track duties.
E30 is a fun car.
