I knew about the ls kits, and I had one in the shed at one stage, but now I'm pretty bloody sick of seeing every damn car popping up with one that's it's been given the arse. Turns out I'm a Holden man....
Pretty keen on seeing anyone dropping in an e36/46 m3 donk though, good work.

Initial tuning with the needles seems good but I'll no doubt find out their full potential when I take it to the track. I think spell check got you on the needles, they're UP.
Springs are standard, I can't remember the spring rate but I did measure them a while back....
2" Su's seem a heap easier to tune than 1 3/4", they have seperate idle speed control, screw adjustment fuel mixture, so nice....
And yeah I think with the whole world going ls crazy the new different is seeing an engine other than a chev between the rails. Not that I hate them, just being a grumpy old man for a moment:)

Can't wait to get it back to the track, at least I'll get a direct comparison between the 1 3/4" Su's & the 2".
We'll see how she goes eh?!

Hey all, quick update...
Got a chance to take the weapon out on sunday over the quarter for a bit of fun.
First run, took off clean, then all three dashpot dampers spun themselves out of the carbs by 3/4 track with the front one parting company at some stage....
Asked the stewards if they found it to let me know but for now just had to pull a tune up out of the sky. Ran a 12.74 @ 101.
Remembering (i think??!!) that Warren had said he would get to the track then pull the dampers out, I did the same & drained the remaining oil from the carb pistons (the rest being all over the windscreen).
Second run & best of the day, 12.68 @ 103.
I reckon i'll have to try again with the dampers in, the air/fuel ratio was showing anywhere from 17-18.5:1 from half track so that could either be needles or dampers. 1/8th mile time is down by 2 tenths over the smaller carbs at this stage, best of 7.94, and i'm still taking off at idle coz any stall will just turn the tyres off the line wildly.
Some descent tyres (ie slicks) will be next on the list, and a couple different sets of carb needles.
Anyway, I didn't break anything so it was a good day

LOL didn't break anything - that is a good day.For people that don't race, not breaking anything is a good day.
We forget to remember that theses old block and parts just don't like the punishment handed out, and just keeping the thing going through the meeting takes effort

Well done, you drove it on the trailer at the end of the day.
I use to pull the oil & pistons with the 1 3/4" but not the 2". I don't run any oil, but dampers are in. Looks like the needles could be a bit richer for the top end. Did you see what the AFR was in the first half of the track?

Last time I went to a drag meet, there were several cars that broke things from axles to pistons.

So I headed out for some more laps today after fitting some richer needles to the su's & making up a cold air box for the carbs and a scoop on the bonnet.
Net result, fark me if the thing didn't go 11.99 @ 108, and it's a bunch too rich for the first 1/4 track! Stoked
I'm getting a transbrake sorted as we speak to make it a little more exciting off the line, but for now, check it out.
