Been talking with a mate of mine about the correct gear knob for a 70 LC XU-1. Could anyone tell me the correct gear knob for a Opel LC XU-1.
Cheers
Pauli

AFAIK the HK,T,G had a gearshift pattern plate on the console so the gearshift knob could be plain.
LC GTR didn't have a gearshift pattern plate on the console so it would have to have been marked on the gear knob.
That looks like the LJ one Les
Looks like the LJ Aussie M20 knob but it isn't the same animal.

I had a HK Monaro and will be the first to admit it was a bit of a bitza................but?AFAIK the HK,T,G had a gearshift pattern plate on the console so the gearshift knob could be plain.
My recollection is as you say, plain gear knob, same as the steering wheel colouring and the shift pattern in the console. Mine was an Opel box too.

It has a bigger hole in it than 2817737 to suit the Saginaw shifter and we were told it also fits an LC the genuine part number is 2808589 we believe on other info would be helpful.AFAIK the HK,T,G had a gearshift pattern plate on the console so the gearshift knob could be plain.

Slightly off topic but I reckon this would loo cool with the right interior, even though its not original.

Nope. As per the photo. That's exactly the same as my 8/70 GTR that I bought in 1980. There are some photos in Torana Tough that will show it as well. Also, some original brochure photos doing the rounds.
Thanks

Not sure if it's 5/16 or 3/8 but I ordered mine through Armadale Auto parts and it came with threaded adapters to suit many applications.

Did anyone work out the thread size and also the overall diameter of the LC opel 4 speed gear knob.
Is it the same diameter as the m20 gear knob that measures 43mm ?
My shifter has been cut and joined to a m20 shifter (and has the m20 gear knob), does anyone have a hand trace of the outline and the diameter of the original gear shifter rod as i need to remake mine ?
