This may be a silly question but is there any way to shorten the spindle length of a stub axle ? .
I have been trying to find some decent info on the subject but no luck so far .

you mean where the bearing and seal goes on,
if so, you can have bearing and seal surfaces machined back further Troy.
also the thread for the castellated nut

P76 disks and a CRS conversion kit will move the hub face in 12mm or so, also move your brakes over by the same amount.
Cheers.

got plenty of torana pattern wheels and want to use a rotor that doesn't need machining ever time it needs replaced .

narr cant space the inner bearing out anymore , the inner rotor face is already too far away from the caliper mount (30mm compared to the toranas 20mm ) .
I will try and get some more measurements to give you a better look at it .

I vaguely recall this being a conversion done to HR frontends in the olden days, so I reckon it can be done.
I have no idea on the method used, unfortunately.

Mount the stub axle "between centres" in a lathe, & machine away.

I agree with Warren,
Troy, you have enough metal to machine back to suit the Volvo hub.
