If I don't get my car fixed on time and end up being a passenger for the event, then I promise I will be a menace all weekend.  Turkey slaps all round :-)

Pretty hard to grab your turkey with a pair of tweezers even with the aid of a magnifying glass  :stirpot:

Pops is number one on the Turkey Slap list.  I will make sure I fashion it up prior to exposing it so you can actually see it this time :-).

Hi all with Toranafest fast approaching things are starting to take shape.

We have just over 200 pre entries with more coming in each day.

We  have just secured the services (weather pending) of a Drone fitted with a camera for some great shots initially on the Saturday arvo Cruise and hopefully of the Sunday as well. :driving:

We  have been liaising with both Raymond Terrace and Maitland Police just to make sure we are doing the right thing.

Please remember to obey the road rules on the cruise as we don't want anyone getting booked etc. this includes stopping at the stop sign as you exit the motel.

We have some good stuff for the auctions as well. just another reminder to bring cash as it will be a fair walk to the nearest ATM.

I have heard some questions as to why we have moved to Maitland when Newcastle was such a fantastic spot.

Here are some of the reasons:

Lack of Parking for Spectators and most importantly Sponsors

Lack of Public Transport as now the Rail line has been terminated

Lack of support from the Local Council

Difficulties for  those that trailer cars  unloading and loading areas.

Limited space for the entry area - cars backed up onto the main road. (would hate to see some one get drilled from behind).

We have not chosen the move to Maitland lightly and will welcome any constructive criticism for future shows.

Maitland Council are Keen to work with us in the future!!!

I have heard on Social Media that this is the last Toranafest...... :wtf:... if the individual(s) would like to contact myself then I would only be too glad to clear the situation up. Members of our club put in a lot of hard work and we do not appreciate this type of rubbish.

 VIP's confirmed are:

Bev Brock- settle down Barry!!!!!

 James Brock- Settle down Lawrie!!!!

Ian Tate

 Jim Richards- thanks to Shannons

Ron Harrop

Joe Felice

The Hunter Valley Torana Clubs Own Nowacki Brothers  Ned and Bruce

With the possibility  of a couple of others TBC

Not a bad line up indeed :clappin:

I know that their are a couple of you racing against time to get your cars completed. good luck and keep burning the midnight oil!

Looking forward to catching up with you all.

if you have any questions please drop me an e-mail [email protected] or give me a call 0432 333 729(bad reception at work leave me a message and I will get back to you)

Regards

 Pete

Sounds like a great move Pete  :spoton:

I have been told that Maitland Showground has plenty of entrant's parking, plenty of spectator parking and a great area for food outlets and when you get a turn out like Toranafest 2013 with 354 entrants, well I am sure people will appreciate what Maitland Showground has to offer

AND I will be happy to meet up with Bev again and I think the time lapse for the AVO is over   :spoton:

Chomping at the bit to hit the frog and toad   :driving:    :burnout:

Maitland Showground will be Awesome.....   Regardless of entries, I think the crowds will flock there..     some type of advertising of the venue change for the general public may be handy though ..

As in previous years it will be an alcohol free event. In 2013 I had to happily escort a intoxicated spectator out of the area.

I would hate someone's car or an incident to mar the event.

Friday and Saturday nights are for you guys to let your hair down. for those that have hair.

 I'm sounding like a wet blanket aren't I !!!!!!

Regards

 Pete

Thanks for the update Pete, for me Toranafest can't come fast enough.

As for the Social Media about "Last Toranafest ever" don't worry about it, it's only social media

What it should read is "Last Toranafest" - Neverrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!

OK all of you Brock fans, I will be bringing up to the Fest to be auctioned off for Ronald McDonald House a print of Brock's 79 Bathurst winning A9X

This was given to me when one of my car club members said he had it to donate to charity

I mentioned the auction at Toranafest for Ronald McDonald House and he was happy to give it to me

What happened to the frame was that he had it leaning up against a wall and his bloody cat got behind it and knocked it over breaking the glass

I am getting a new frame made up by my mate in Wollongong and it will have a perspex cover instead of glass and the frame is powder coated.

If you have seen the frames that I have with my display, they are the one's my mate Ray makes

This is the print, No. 409/500 and the last one on evilbay sold for about $500

I placed the wooden 12 inch / 30cm rule there to show the prints size

The car is approximately 50cm wide x 40cm high

Brock-Print-1.jpg

Brock-Print-3.jpg

AND it has been signed by the man himself "Peter Brock"

Brock-Print-2.jpg

My frames I have put legs on them and hinges to form an "A" frame display

Where-it-is-2010-b.jpg

These can be hung on a wall with just adding a chain at the back

Bid up BIG, it's for Ronald McDonald House in Newcastle which helps families with kids that are being treated for cancer to be together during that treatment

If anyone is interested in those frames and they can be built to order then let me know

They have perspex so a lot more robust than glass and all of the sides are spring loaded so they hinge back to take out the perspex and insert photos, prints and the type of memorabilia I have

Great to hang on the wall of your man cave or workshop and if you get tired of a prints/photo/s, it's easy to change them

Ray's workshop is in Sydney although he lives in Port Kembla

Has been a mate since school back in the early 60's

He is donating the frame for the print to be auctioned off for Ronald McDonald House

All's good

Barry
