Disagree mate, I've got the new 5spd auto D4D, worlds apart to the 4 spd. It does seem to predict throttle behaviour a bit which is annoying... DJ has been in mine at highway speed... ?

IMO, the V6 has terrible commodore like throttle response... Slightest touch and your spinning wheels ... That is terrible.

I drive a V6 auto every day. I test drove a new D4D A750F and took it back after 15 minutes, and said no way. I hated it that much. It has so much throttle lag. They are that bad the aftermarket has a "fix" for it with a new pedal to overcome the issue. It just felt so wierd as the D4D manual is quite good to drive and accelerates quite well for what it is, yet the auto is just wrong. V6 auto drives like a normal car, my only criticism is it runs out of puff up high due to the exhaust hence why i've got a new one to put on.

Agree Blair. And Skap, no it isn't. But it is the best available driveline in its class. The A750F is 10x better behind the D4D than the old 4spd clunker though, and with exhaust, chip and pedal mod they are probably and OK thing.

If only one of the manufacturers would pull their heads out of their #%$@s and put a 6.0-ishL V8 in this class of vehicle for sale here!

Well she ended up buying a Klugger AWD. So I guess we will find out if it's up to it sooner or later. The float reads 900kg on the rego label, her black horse is 500kg and the rest are ponies.

At least its a Toyota and AWD has to be better than FWD.

Good luck.

If she has to pull the float across a slippery surface like grass they should have a transmission lock button that turns it into a proper (albeit high range) 4x4. Tell her not to use it on tar or concrete though, just to get off the slippery stuff. These things are FWD by nature, and with a trailer lifting the front a bit it may upset the AWD system on initial takeoff, before the rear wheels start to work. Might also be worth investing in some load levellers for it to get it to sit flatter so more weight goes to the front wheels (that do most of the work on these).

Probably one of these. I am a Camry owner, it's about all I would tow.
