Innocent until proven guilty (in the eyes of the law). I'd love to name people, but then, what if the courts system lets them off, and you have just named someone who legally didn't do anything wrong?

if people from the forum are implicated in this scam will they be named and shamed ?as i am sure there are buyers on here that would be affected and potentially not know.

oh i,m sure they will be
but only after the courts have done what they need to do
and only if they are guilty of a crime!
until then as red said

so please people no names

As a matter of interest, how long after a case has been started or heard are the records available publicly ?

Info is available on the courts website when sentancing has taken place in SA, don't know about other states though

E.g. http://www.courts.sa...arks/index.html

Isn't there a report item button somewhere on the page for an illegal item (it is illegal to sell tags isn't it?)  while ever there is people willing to pay there will be someone willing to sell.

Is it illegal to own them because I have a handful of GMH blank plates?

It depends on the law in your state (VIC?)

It is likely that it is in most jurisdictions.

Cheers, TB

Hi

I think that most jurisdictions would have similar legislation in that it is an offence to be in possession (without reasonable excuse) of unique identifying plates without the car to which they belong. Max 5 years jail in Victoria for this one and the onus is on the person in possession of the plate/s to prove "reasonable excuse".

I would think that blank plates would be okay because they don't identify an particular vehicle.

Cheers

Bazza

I don't know if this should be in this thread but while your talking about dodgy cars, a fella said to me today you will cry when you hear this, he picked up a lx hatch for $950 I said a six he said no a v8

Ah 253 he said 308, and then he said its l34 and I said they only come out in lh nah he said its genuine, so I said is it a ss he said the plates say its genuine

So I said give me a look at the plates and he said hes removed the plates and taken them to the local holden dealer for verification

Then he tells me hes removed the plates on all four toranas he has

My question is could you order a hatchback or any torana with a l31 or did it have to be a slr or ss he reckons its factory fitted

Because this sounds to me like a dodgy setup

The biggest laugh is the local Holden dealer could verify the tags!

Normally to option L31 on a Torana it was on an SL/R or SS although there were supposed to be some SL sedans but I haven't seen one.

Where did the cop cars fit into the picture?

Obviously there were 308 for Highway use, were the SLR?

And pretty sure the detectives outback got V8s as well

SL/R's were 202 or 253. If you optioned the 308 (L31) on the SL/R you got an SL/R 5000.

I know that at times there were base model cars such as S fitted with V8s for Police.

Not sure of it happened with Toranas though.

I do remember some time back that a forum member had a l31 4 door that wasn't a slr or ss

Anyone remember this

Cars like that did exist, like 350 powered Premiers and Kingswoods. No surprise the odd car turns up with a driveline that the normal person couldn't easily order.

There used to be a dealer on Canterbury Rd near the hospital who sold ex government cars. I remember in the late 70's looking at a base model LX sedan, Aquarius in colour special factory ordered 5lt, t-bar auto with sports dash.
