Really want a manual, but really want a bench. Considering dropping 253 or Tri pattern 308 in with a V8 3 speed behind it? anyone got a 3 speed column and a V8 3 speed box? A clutch pedal and cable/linkage setup would be great too :)

V8 3spd box is the same as a 6cyl for all HG-WB other than for input shaft and cover, just like an M20. Uses all the same clutch mech, clutch pedal and bellhousing as a 4spd. HT V8 3spd is a close ratio box, so avoid those.

Yeah i dont just want a 3 speed because its a non floor cutting way of having a manual but that is an important factor, i just like the novelty factor of driving a 3 on the tree and being a weekender its not a big deal to not have overdrive although ill prob eat my words later on haha.

Big brake kit arrived from UPC, 287mm plain disc rather than drilled or slotted, prefer the normal sort of look. These babies should stop a Torana real well :) gonna go for a commodore booster and master cyl. R31 diff is already disc braked so happy days!

Well not a great deal has been happening but I want the car done this year so I better get into it. Bought a set of rust free doors that need minimal panel beating to get right, thinking about getting the body blasted and then epoxy primed and then do my repairs over that. Been practicing on the TIG with some scrap trying to get my skills up, not so bad, mates a welder who TIGs staino day in and out so he is helping a great deal!

Don't throw in the towel yet mate, keep practicing your welding skill, the more you do it the better you will get.

That's it mate. Keep going, don't let it get the better of you.
And whenever the time comes (whether it's months or even years) when you open your garage and see the finished product you'll thank yourself for sticking with it.

Perfecto! Having the factory wiring and computer makes it a snack to get going in the Torrie, once you have sorted out the fuel pump and return line.

I had a custom drop tank made for mine, using a VT fuel pump assembly/surge pot in the tank . Works so far, but the car hasn't driven yet.

Yeah see I don't particularly want the drop tank look, if I can get another 20L out of my tank and fit the fuel pump setup I'll be happy 👌

Yeah, fair enough. In that case, there's this option, which just fits into a standard tank - Derrin71 did it in his awesome hatch build, how he did it here. Might work for you, with some extra room for those extra 20 liters?

You owe me an hour after I just re-read Derrin's build thread... :-)

See that was my plan to run one of those but they are pretty pricey. If I can adapt the caprice setup and throw a new pump at it that's another part I can use off the car

Well got a little more done today my good friend Dee Man the boily is helping me along with the welding so tonight we have welded up more holes that wont be needed and fitted the battery tray. KBS coated inside the chassis rail before the tray went in. Tomorrow should be getting close to getting the lower plenum finished and the upper plenum prepped and ready to go back in. After that it will be plating up the firewall and bonnet hinges. Little bit to repair in the lower rad support but other than that pretty much covers the front end repairs. Few rivet holes to weld up in the floorpan and then its rust around the rear windscreen and the beaver panel behind the bumper.

Not a great deal has been happening on the body so I started playing with things that I actually know how to do, like rebuilding the wiper motor. Not that it needed it, but figured id grease her up and clean her out while it was sitting around. Oh, and if anyone has an SLR cluster they would like to sell to me for less than my weekly wage I'd love to hear from you :)
