The numbers look ok, seem about the right range for a 10/77 car and engine cast date is September which would be right.

Hi it looks a nice car. It has the wrong dash as the switch is in the wrong spot and it has a rts badge. What is the switch for I'm gussing heated rear window? it should have a radio and no sticker on the nose cone the washer bottle brackets, I am looking on my phone the the pics are not that big I can't see much else, cheers Aaron.

The rear demister switch should be in the console, but maybe someone made a hole on the dash and he decided to move the switch. Not sure on the RTS thought it was well into 77 when it was introduced

Make sure the engine number on the block is QR063953. If the Q is missing well you can guess what has happened. Another case of 2+2=7.

Something looks wrong too where the brake lines go through the inner skirts.

I believe the engine number should start with HR, assuming the motor is original.

Had a brain fart ref the RTS...

Was not introduced till Nov 1976 in the Sunbirds then Early 1977 for the Torana's.

Engine should be HR in the Torana, not QR (was HQ - HZ)

hey byron not sure what you mean mate with the brake lines i know the rubbers are missing or is it the black clip i think that is meant to be there and the steel clips that hold the line to the hole on inner skirts??

Yes spot on, and no leading 0 is correct. I have seen people get their letter from GMH before and promptly get a block stamped and either leave the leading series code off or add a leading zero as this is how they appear in the Service/Warranty records - Holden can no longer interpret their own records anymore hence normally get it wrong in their letters.

As far as I remember 1976 LX's the brake hose end from the caliper pokes through the inner skirt and gets held in by a flat spring clip. The brake line screws into the hose end. I thought it was A9X only in LX with the big ugly plastic cylinder that saw the line run through a rubber and terminate at a bracket in the wheel well.

Hi Byron

the change over from Clips to Grommets did happen around the Oct/ Nov 1976 period. I just can't find the paperwork to narrow it down..

It was a change to all models, not just A9X's.

cheers

MIck

Thanks Mick. Something new to learn every day! Only ever remember noticing it on UC's with plastic cylinders. My LX was a 2/76.
