a question was asked got me thinking, go to the effort of installing Subaru liberty rear seats, as well as fronts.
a lot of work, not sure. was planning to just go an easy nice black seat cover on original rear tory seats.
pics just for interests sakes
(station wagon set shown, not "sedan's")
snug, but indeed fits sideways
like any different modern rear seats, would take a lot of work to fit.

cheers for the hint Sam, might use.
(or NOT??, read below) and great vids.
bloody nice of you Daz. again, bloody nice.
come real close to saying yes please..
if it wasn't for a old bloke 2 doors down from me. he's a retired.. ??welder/metal/car worker
know him as his missus and my daughter had spent time mingling with horses in past.
point being, didn't have anything pipe/socket size to place on top and smack in with, like the vid showed me,
(and..um, my trying without.. started to "bend" things. yep.)
so went and asked him if he had a huge socket, or pipe i could cut an inch off.
he said "bring em here." he only had half an hour to spare and we got three done.
told me to bring back again and will help with rest.
so.. yay!
and back to sam,
so i took a special red grease i bought with me and he said i shouldn't even use that..??!
as "are meant to be tight" he said.
didn't argue, and with some serious hammering we got three of six in.
and Daz, instead if you don't mind i'll just wrap up the car and deliver if you could be a champ and just "press in" my windows and mechanisms instead.. that'd be great! hahaha
(just one of many jobs over the next year am not looking forward to.. along with the brakes, door rubber kit, electrics, engine.. etc
you know, basically.. the car;)

off with it's head
3 pins removed and material folded back
chop away, and with angle grinder, that metal had to go.
test fit
and now lower seat anchors meet footwell, bonus
20 pins and a quarter of a tube of araldite later, waiting to dry
_____________
and the shoulder skin, removed off the liberty's plastic moulding.
bottom perfectly moulds to tory hub, top need to be recreated.
bought some firm foam from clarke rubber to make the two shoulders.

(and if wondering, those square bit of plastic at bottom of seats are where "child seat" anchors were on the suburu liberty/outback. anyone using these seats would be best to buy the ones without them. they were an "option".)

Not to rain on your parade Mat but, you do know all these seat mods have to be inspected (and approved) by an engineer right?
Posted 07 October 2016 - 07:58 AM
of course, (as are mods to original)
cheers andrew:)

far from finished. more padding out, patching (read: glueing) missing sections, anchoring seats etc etc to do
but gives me good idea of finished product, which i really like.
(hmm.. camera pics give idea of "dark grey and light grey" seats", when really almost "black and dark grey" in the flesh. odd)
