What model is harness meant for & is it for points dissy???? Be easier to decipher

Purple wire should be solenoid starter

1 Coil most likely..guess yellow is (positive) & brown (negative) for hei have to join 2 wires at ignition switch for 12v starting

2 Blue? unsure maybe idle solenoid or something

3 brown wire looks like alternator charge light

4 Green water temp sender

5 & 6 Tan & blue no idea unless for rochestor car

7 LOL

8 Blue Oil pressure sender

My 2 cents guess

Got to do trans lines like yours eventually except short section of rubber line to allow for engine movement.

Might be easier to get an original carb for rego. You'll probably want to put a small 4 barrel on it later anyway.

But you've probably gone over this already.

Great thread , keep it up

heya gtr,

cheers for info!

IMG_1447a_1.png

i explained to seller wanted for hei upgrade.

here's hopin'!

fortunately, came across info of how to send 12v to dizzy, i think, in easy to follow picture form

IMG_1392.jpg

IMG_1393.jpg

1, agreed, coil

2. figured too for post poll or different carb

3. thought alternator.. which still yet to buy

went to pickapart for my mum,. and also had a look for a v8 vn-p 85 amp alt while there.

whoda thunk they didn't have one! hahaha not a v8 in sight.

4. water temp. so have put it on fight point, i gather.

5 and 6 are a puzzle. expect is more post poll that i don't have.

8. in right spot then. excellent.

---

and my max elery torana book is a joke.

has a few wiring diagrams, hard to read a none for an 8cyl.

heya mark,

original carb for easier setup and rego i should of bloody done in first place.

car didn't come with a carb, and had read some "improve" them up with a 350 holley and that it's pretty common thing to do.

so.. bought one and have had a ball ever since. lol

will be trying my luck with rwc, expect to get knocked back here and there, but am going to use as insight as to what can get away with, and what need to work on.

and.. i take it i send one end of orange to here to "kickdown" on trans

below is a photo off site of anothers car with wiring done.

IMG_1905.jpg

theirs seems to be original wiring setup...

so as mine was a manual.. i don't have this on my car.

1. is the wire towards front of ccar "power in" and towards rear "power out"?

2. and, do i tap the orange "power in" out of any of these wires??

Purple for inhibitor/starter

Greens for reverse lights

Orange is kickdown -pedal to probe thing side of auto, shouldn't need to tap wire...I'd leave4 it alone!!! Later on can check with test light if got acc power then push pedal down both will power test light.

Grey is illumination light globe for selector panel

cheers gtr, cheers for info, had no idea what names were.

although now thinking.. as car was originally a manual i am not going to find ANY ports to plug those into.??

auto elec may indeed be necessary.

and that pick is not of my kickdown. it is someone else's.

was just adding a pic of it to show what needs to be done, and asking for any info of how to achieve with mine. (as in where to tap power from to send to kickdown on trans)

Should be simple plug change from auto to manual...usually manual cars have small bridged plug for purple starter wires you unclip then add small auto harness that has purple wires to inhibutor on tbar, the revers light wires & grey wire for indicator light.

Kickdown wire + earth thing are usually left clipped to auto, rarely taken off.

You got some more searching & parts tracking to do methinks to find out what's needed.

I put a WB manual 6 cyl ute wiring harness in an auto V8 HZ sedan and I don't remember it being overly difficult though I had a mate who knew his sh!t helping me out.

Sorry but it was almost 20 years ago now so I don't remember the details. But I think the auto detent switch was just a straight plug in swap. There should be a plug in the middle of the car under the dash with a green and purple wire going into it. Someone here might have the auto plug in wiring you need. Can't remember what we did with the kickdown.

that would be sweet! will do some searching

and guessing.. kickdown feed can come out of anywhere, just has to be an "ignition on" constant power source.

Should be simple fix, just simple matter of taking deep breath then looking at what's different.

Usually peeps want to do manual conversion from an auto car lol

like when i bent and buckled my carby throttle cus had no real idea how a cable attaches, and guessed wrong..

.. or like when i... ..

hmm, could go on for a bit but will stop there i reckon hahaha

Yes doing a very good job indeed.
Best way to learn anything is by the mistakes made I think. I hate paying anyone to do any job. Just hope u don't make a mistake that is to costly.
All the best with it all.
