I tested it earlier and it is easily doing up my wheel nuts to 120 ft/lb.

120ft/lb seems a lot for a wheel nut.

Brian the only negative I would say about the driver is the drive. The sockets are quite hard to get on and off at first but after putting them on and off mine loosened up a bit.

Hi,

Time for an update, I purchased the Rockwell from SuperCheap.

As Wayne mentioned above sockets are a little difficult to get on/off - this turned out to be useful at work.

I have to say it has performed flawlessly and would easily cope with the load you track guys need and the has served me well at home and for the week that I took it to work - whilst at work I had to it charge nightly.

All in all good value for money, I think they are now 180 bucks.

Just checked eBay now on special for $148

Cheers Brian  :D

I cringe when I hear qualified mechanics talking about using a rattle gun to do bolts up. That's poor tradesmanship.

Out of perverse curiosity what would you recommend for wheel nuts?

Who me? A breaker bar to undo and a torque wrench to do up to factory spec.

By all means use a rattle gun to remove nuts and bolts, and hell even get them nipped, but never fasten with a rattle gun. Especially with a powerful gun, destroys mating surfaces and strips threads.

The LC torana has 7/16 studs and the manual say torque up 55-60 ft lbs....   very very easy to overdo this, both by hand and by gun..... even with alloys/different metal nuts etc it would still be mostly a function of the 7/16th size and UNC thread form, i don't know the grade of steel used in wheel studs.....

On a classic mini, 3/8th wheel studs the torque is 46 ft/lbs.... basically nipped tight plus a quarter turn if that

I just bought this Rockwell rattler as well, but i am going to have some practices with the torque wrench (measuring tool not the rattler) to get the manual feel for 60ft/lbs again..
