15 in tyres are a lot less common than they used to be. Any recommendations for a higher performance tyre? Anyone familiar with the frderal 657? Falken do a 50 series 225...any body run the toyo r888 on the street- I see they do a 235 50 15 - I don't know any other manufacturer that does this size

BFG still does the Radial T/A in 225/60 15 as well...not a 'performance tire' really I suppose but they do make them at least.  (Kuhmo does them too for a cheapy version)

Thanks Jeff. Never had the t/a's but I imagine they can't be too good given their age...I see a few of the U.S. manufacturers do 235 60 15 which would probably fit on the back of my unflared hatch - I'd say they be in the same boat as the BF's

The T/As are ok..I liked Cooper Cobras too, they were always better in the wet than the T/A's also (not that it rains much here! haha)  Not sure if they do a 225 or not, but believe they do have a 235, know the BFG does the 225 though as I shipped some over there not too long ago.

The R888s are fantastic tyres in both wet and dry but they won't last long. Might get 15,000kms from them if you go easy but given the amount of grip they offer I know I wouldn't.

I think the Bridgestone Potenza is no longer available in a 225 60 15. I ran G grid bridge stones on one of my panel and - quite ok.

The other thing I need to keep in mind is matching tyres for the front - unflared, spoiler, mudflaps and hz spindles. It will be 195 60 15 or 205 50 15

I have 225/60 R15 Yokohama C.drive2 on my Commodore. Very pleased with their performance. Have the same tyres in a different size on the wife's car.

I bought 2 225/60/15's for the Mustangs rear last week. They are a Hankook optimo K415 tyre which is a very versatile tyre. These tyres are smooth and quiet and I got them from Bob Jane T Marts at $140each. I highly recommend them.

Are those Hankook's V rated? Fit OK on a 6" rim?

Yes they are V rated mate only I put mine on 8.5 inch rims. I put 205/60/15's on the 6 inch rims on the front and their an H rated tyre.

Cool. A GTS327 or GTS350 needs V rated tyres, H rated are a lower speed rating than the original D70 tyres and it is not a good idea to go backwards. D70-14 are pretty close to 205/70/14 and the closest 15" to those appears to be a 205/65/15 or 215/60/15. 225/60/15 are a little taller but only about 20mm or so.
