Brabham L34, Bartlett Camaro, Grice Cars, 1992 Bathurst winner?
If you think a crashed car is worth the same as an uncrashed car well who's the dumb one here.

There would not be many Ex Race Cars with no crash history or a panel replaced

Exactly!
Funny how some people can't understand that.

Very few race cars survive without having some crashes.
I ran a tow truck at Oran Park in the early 80s.
Got really close to a lot of cars in that time.
Can also tell you that repairs were not done well.
As long as the wheels were in the right place and pointing the right way they were happy.
Saw a few cars where the bog was well over an inch thick. With holes punched through panels to help it stay in place.
They looked good on the outside. But when you looked inside it was another story.

Hmm, firstly, how many race cars out there haven't had an accident, in fact, how many road going Toranas haven't been in an accident or had a panel change?
I believe a race car with a good will always be worth more, something like the Roadways hatch that was bulit in 79 has a great history, or the Brock hatch from 79. But one of the most desirable cars out there, the 78 Brock hath has had one of the most monumental accidents in a race, but was restored at the time. Please tell me you wouldn't want that in your shed?

As for the price of the cars I can remember that ex HDT cars went for around 30k regularly.
They normally spent 2 years with the team then were sold off.
Other teams sold theirs for around the same coin.
Almost bought a VB that had been upgrade to VH when I was at Bathurst in 1984 for about 10k without motor.
Was said it was an ex HDT car.
That may have been a good buy.

said it before...and I'll say it again...I just don't get why Torana people always say that these cars are worth less than what is asked/mentioned in adverts / stories.
I would have thought we all would think our cars are worth heaps....?
Just imagine putting your home up for sale...for say $700k...and all the neighbours start telling you houses in your street are only worth $400k???....why would they do it?.
Good luck to the seller....hope you get heaps.

For $500k i'd be buying a beautiful GTS327, the platinum GTS350 off the front of Norm Darwin's second edition of the Monaro book, and a 1973 spec XU1 and still probably have change for an RPO83 coupe.

When out car was found it was a mess! It's been fixed 100% & had a full nut/bolt restoration to how you see it now. We have the full history of ownership & it's been verified by cams with the help of some of the best people in the 70s HDT business.
We didn't write that article, or state the price mentioned.
Therefor if anyone is interested, please at least have the funds to make a phone call before you voice your opinion
I may be out of the loop here? But is the car that is being discussed here owned by yourself? Not being smart in anyway, I just was trying to get an understanding.

Its owned by Rod Hatfield Brad.
There's a big difference between 100K and 500K. Lots of poeple could probably pull 100K if they really needed to but 500K, not so easy.

Yes, owned by my dad Rod
Lol I hope your joking
There is a big difference between 100 and 500k, but when you buy the 100k car and sell it three years later for 30 over 20 years its pretty even....and you still have a 30k car....
Of course it would be a much better investment than buying a new car. That is also the reason I just bought a 66 Mustang, a 2004 Monaro and as far as the Torana goes well at least its not dropping.
There's also a big difference between the price we are asking what those guys wrote in the article haha
I hope you sell it for a packet.
