just the facts maam....I must have been excited..its $5k, not $50k..still ouch though.

I'm sure many of us have enjoyed the usefulness and convenience of the LandCruiser workshop manuals that were made available on the Moranbah weather website for the last few years. Unfortunately, this service has landed the website owner in hot water, and he now has a $5,000 bill from Toyota for copyright infringement.
This bloke did us all a favour and is now paying the price. I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated if we could go some way to covering his costs, especially if you got some use out of the manuals. He's set up a gofundme page here:

$270  of $5000 raised.

Over the last few years I have provided the Workshop manauls for various vehicles of a particular motor car company on my website (Moranbahweather.com) free of charge and as was. Said motor company had started up their own service recently charging for the same service. They have now commenced legal action against my self for extensive trade mark infringement and copyright
infringement. Although the manuals are no longer available on the website and have all been destroyed  I will still have to pay to the amount of $5000 to avoid  legal proceedings against myself in the Federal Court of Australia. I have used the manuals myself exstensivly over the last few years and they have helped me a great deal. only receiveing a total of around $40 from advertising from the site on an adclick basis was no where near what the site running costs were but I was happy to wear that. I'm not so much happy anymore.
Just giving a little will be a great help towards paying this off, I thank you all for your kind words and support over this matter.

^ Aaron Swartz did something similar, releasing medical journals from a university library through a loop-hole citing 'freedom of information' and Jack Andraka's breakthrough pancreatic cancer test would have never come about were it not for access to these online journals. The CIA (Central Institute of Assassinations) and the Federal Bureau of Intimidations (FBI) ;) eventually caught up with him and the stress led to his suicide.

^ This is a great documentary, if you have the time.

A company that made 13.8 BILLION dollars in 2016 is going to sue old mate for lost income for a few manuals???????

Christ. Most people would just buy a Gregorys anyway.

We were once asked by a certain publishing company to remove articles scanned out of magazines

As it breached their copywrite or something... was years ago.. can't remember the exact details

Oh... and there was the talk with Holden about the use of the logo's too

Hi

Wasn't that the "By The Numbers" article in "Australian Musclecar" magazine?

Cheers

Looked closer to Salamanca than Sebring on my screen.
Worth noting that just because a car, or cars, appear in the background of a story about big $ look-a-likes doesn't mean its not a legit L34. There was no info provided to say either way.

If you Listened to the News Report, it said the Police had Nabbed a Dozen Cars and they believed were all FAKES, that Red L34 is grouped together with the other Cars (Making the Dozen) in that Police Compound and ARE ALL TO Believed to be FAKES.

So why would the L34 be Real if they said they Believe they are all Fakes.

Just because someone believes something, doesn't make it right, correct or even factual.

Looked red to me too. Just cause it has flares etc etc doesn't guarantee it is an L34.

Not just the News reporter saying it in that News Report Story.

Snr Sgt Paul Bertoncello saying it as well in that News report.

I probably had my laptop screen on the wrong angle. Plus my eyes aren't what they used to be. We'll call it red. :)

Who do you want to engage with the community?

my comment was related to a somewhat one way street.....the police, correctly come to the car community to ask for info, but later on, sort of forget to close the loop and provide some feedback.

Sure there is all that cant talk about it it's before the courts stuff, but even a little feedback wouldnt go astray.

There can't be any feedback because it's still ongoing.

RR,

What he said (xu150) - if the investigation is ongoing and/or the matter is before the Court/s then nothing can be said other than that...

To do otherwise would be prejudicial and gives rise to charges being dismissed, but yes, some level of feedback at least to this extent would be better than nothing - it's called community policing and Peel's principles but hey, VICPOL will tell you they and not Sir Robert Peel invented contemporary policing given the chance - they know boats  ;)

Regards, TB
