hahahahha, well i researched then and looks to be around 120, my uc hatchback kerb weight is like 1157, so canculations =

120 / 1157 = 0.1037165082, than multiply by 1000 to get tones, = 103.7165. so im well under the 130kw per tone limit! NO 202 :)

253 red was claimed 180(5)HP(135kw),308 red claimed was about 240 BHP(180kw), blue and efi were probably not too much higher?

180kw or 240 BHP for 308 rings a bell, although the efi may have been 185?

cant' see why they would have went backwards to less HP out of 308 in blue/black to less than that of a 253, but who knows?

180/1157=155

even if the 5L was only 150,just scrape in with those numbers.

That'll will need to be weighed for engineering in NSW just like my UC sedan with a 253 & she weighed in at 1340 kg's with the V8, air con, tow bar, 17 x 8's & LPG system

I don't think anyone is trying to put you off the idea of V8 option considering the UC did not come from factory with a V8.

But with the "rules" that have been made regarding "P" platers make some sort of sense considering that "power and acceleration" do play a part with

"lead foot because it there to be used" in written people and cars

Mind the public,i see "P" platers in 4 cylinder stuff doing stupid shit that could just as well get us killed, not good considering it sounds like you have

put a lot of effort into what you intend drive around.

Not so much the "power"..more of how you use it.  :)

So they did go backwards in power,no wonder they went broke :)

Depends which road test report you read. 179 kW according to one VC commodore road test report yet another review of a VC Brock stated 160kw. Seems unlikely that the std was higher than the brockodore...

1157 kg's kerb weight will be with a 6 cyl & I stated before my UC was 1340 kg's with a V8 & I still had a std diff.
You mention before that your UC has a 9 inch. So that is a much heavier diff the same go's for the V8 compaired to a 6 cyl so all these mods are adding more weight to the car. So there is a lot stuff the engineer will be lookig at. Like the motor, the drop tank, the diff & he required a brake upgrade. So I think you should ponder it for a while because it'll cost a bit of coin.

Im not fluent with NSW rules but im pretty certain the weights they gather for P plate legalities and the like will be factory specified weights, the same thing they use in other states to base modification guideliens on.

Just the same as the engine output they use will be whatever they have on there records, regardless of what the engine actually makes.

Cheers.

Yep Muzzy is right, 126KW or 1 KW more than a VN V6. I have owned both and they both went well when healthy in Commodores so would go better in a UC. Cheers. Aaron.

Regardless of what system they used. Under NSW laws the car will need to weighed for the change of records & with that extra weight & horsepower it's almost certain to require HQ at a min. It's still not clear that he can drive it under our P plate laws. One of the requirements is that a P plater can't drive a car that has an engine mod that requires engineering. IMO if you put a V8 in a UC std or not well that's a mod!

but there was a rta person that told me a engine mod, is just a modification done directly to the motor, to enhance the engines preformance, which the 308 has had nothing done. Will be finding out this aftertoon and getting a definet answer :) fingers crossed!

You might be in for some hoop jumping, there is also a power restriction on P1 and P2 and under 25yrs of age at the time.

The power to weight is one aspect that you might get a away with.

The others that might not be so easy are "an engine with 8 or more cylinders" and "an engine with a power output of more than 210kw".

Even though you may be "ok" power output wise and power to weight, it might be a different story with the number of cylinders involved, unless there is some loophole that exempt's you  from the 8 cylinder rule taking into account the power output.

No thats the manifold part number.

The engine number is on the blocks deck face beside the front of the head.

No that's not it. It's on the block on the passenger side (I think) under the head towards the front of the motor.
