Well done Ricky. So brutally honest and down to earth. Love the little digs at his fellow colleagues - ie. the whole reason he was voted in is because the Australian public have lost faith in how things are currently happening!
I think that speech will certainly reset the respect level at least, and enable people to no longer write him off etc. It was well written and cleverly structured. The next big test now will be how he responds when put on the spot.
Good on ya Ricky!

thanks for posting Daz
Well, there you go, a real human in the chamber!
What an honest down to earth Aussie.......reckon some of those pollies looked a bit nervous.....""uh oh...looks like we have a real person here....""
Hope Ricky gets to have some influence and they don't do a hatchet job on him.
Good luck ....a breath of fresh air...and a ballsy/honest maiden speech.

You really should have listened to the whole thing.
He hit on some honest truths that would have had you wooping for joy, as well as some that would have had you throwing the tv remote at the screen.

Yeah certain parts of that speech were absolutely fantastic.... other parts almost sounded like an 18th speech, haha. Overall, still set a good tone

Labor voter, back at you!
I thought Ricky did very well, and agree with a lot of what he said, and i'm not a Labor voter, never will be. I may have been early last century if i'd been around but not as they are today.

Labor leader. Back stabbed 2 sitting Prime Ministers. Still under investigation for rape.
Liberal leader. May have punched a wall. Volunteers as a Fire Fighter and Surf Lifesaver.
Ricky may well have a shot at a top gig if he aligns with Labor.
He probably has less skeletons in his closet

Hahaha..... Liberal / Labor .. It's just like a Hotdog Shop, It doesn't matter who's running the shop, they both sell the same hotdogs.... the only thing that changes is the advertising campaign's ....
but yes, Ricky Muir's speech was from the heart, and it was filled with real emotion....... and I am really hoping he and the AMEP can change the way motorists are being ripped off, and used as the new way of raising revenue instead of raising taxes, which they know is a lot less liked by the voter's..
Peter Garrett, was one of the most vocal opponents to Government control, and Aboriginal right's and welfare.......... yet when he got into politics, he could do nothing, but nod his head, and yes to the Banks and the Mining companies.. he even signed the deal to sell Uranium to India..... little wheels, in a big machine at the end of the day, and someone else is in control of the lever's... they always have been....... ian.

And I think this was a big part of Ricky's speech, people are sick of the hotdog with cheese or the hotdog with sauce - either way you are still dished up offal coated in condiment. It is nice to see someone be an alternative in some very small way. And to see a politician talk in a manner that is not so scripted and false and be scared of the media - to even admit he has changed his mind, and that he will make mistakes.
