Quite a supportive type of commentary  in todays Syd. Morning Herald, by Harold Mitchell, regarding Senator Muir.

Seeing Adolf Hitler as a Polly was the Greatest, as he had all the Germans thinking he was a Demy God, but his idea of the VW as the car for the People Policy, we could of learnt from that and Made Holden the People Cars and boot out the rest and problem solved for Holden, maybe not to late to act lol. Seeing we should be Aussie Loud and Proud and Holden was the first Aussie Car, Government should hang there heads in shame for Holden Sinking or go the Adolf Policy and make Holden the People's Car and Ban all the Rest.

Good reading. He is coming of age as a politician, so it's a shame he hasn't any chance in hell of getting through the next election unscathed.

Hope he didn't sign on too much debt thinking he had a 6 year gig at $196k+ base salary

I support the movement... and the party and good to see he's having a go

But don't think we'll see much of him after the election

Agree, he has come of age and looks a lot more capable as a politician

Also a supporter and I do like the party certainly much more than the other parties but his chances aren't good with the new election changes. My understanding is he got 3% of the vote to get in the 1st time but with the changes he needs 7%

I am hopeful he does well in the election as although he still needs a lot more experience he is an honest guy, rare in politics

Funny how the gun grabbers claim a type of gun used by John Wayne is new technology.

Those who praise our 1996 gun laws are obviously Ok with pump action rifles being legal it's only pump action shotguns that were banned in 1996, a Remington 7600-7615 is allowed a 10 round magazine making it much quicker to reload and has a 10x greater effective range.

So why are pump action rifles ok yet pump action shotguns are banned?

It's amusing how a Ruger Charger is allowed on a Category H license yet the rifles version of the exact same gun the Ruger 10/22 with a much longer barrel and stock is banned, it's a serious offence to put a longer barrel and stock on a Ruger Charger that turns it into a Ruger 10/22 which is a Category C prohibited weapon.

Our gun laws are a joke it's nice to see elected politicians pointing out the lies of the hoplophobes.

Their "reasoning" for banning pump action shotties was because that is the gun that the baddies use in the movies. How scientific is that???

Coming of age, my understanding is it is something like growing up a bit.

He has grown up a bit as a politician.

Think the 3% was after preferences

Maybe they ban pump action shot guns as it does not take a marksman to do damage with one

Currently on ABC 730 report guy modifying shot guns within the law

Abbott changed the Customs act to ban the import of the Adler with more than 5 rounds, gun laws are a state issue so the federal government cannot ban them so the Adler is 100% legal.

The Adler has not been banned it has only been changed to a prohibited import with customs regs.

The 7 round Adler only holds 5 three inch Magnum shells, it's not safe to walk around with a round in the chamber so not many do what GCA and the Greens claims, those who use shotguns for crimes tend to saw the barrel down which reduces magazine capacity as the magazine is the tube below the barrel.

There is no magazine capacity limit for lever action shotguns with non detachable magazine-http://www.police.ns...ctober_2012.pdf

Shotguns are not a long range firearm they are used fairly close-

Equipment required-

12 gauge shotguns, with heavy shot sizes of SG or SSG,may be effective, but only up to a distance of 20m from target animal.

http://www.pestsmart...hooting_web.pdf

For pig shooting it's recommended to be within 20m of the Pig if using a shotgun, the so called high powered .223 Remington Bryant used is considered to small for pig shooting they suggest a .243 as minimum.

A .243 is basically a .308 necked down to .243.

We have pestsmart saying shotguns are only effective within 20m of the target, a .223 has more than 10 times the effective range.

Semi auto rifles accounted for just over 1% of all firearm deaths from 1980-1995 before they were banned.

Accidents- 283 deaths,  Military style rifle 5 deaths

Suicides - 5,487 deaths , military style rifle 52 deaths

Homicides- 813 deaths,  military style rifle 27 deaths

Total proportion of military firearm deaths 1980-1995 = 1.3%

http://www.abs.gov.a...42?OpenDocument

The numbers show 62 out of 916 firearm homicides were done with semi auto rifles from 1980-1996 which includes Port Arthur, by banning Airsoft,BB and semi auto rifles we banned the types of guns that caused the least deaths.

Our second worst mass shooting was done with a single shot bolt action .22lr, a type of gun just about every hunter has.

Once Ricky is removed the motorists are back to having no input or voice.

Do you think the Minister for Transport will pick up the ball? Yeah right!

The slimy suit wearers have covered their tracks so that this type of 'inconvenience' doesn't happen again & the voting public took it straight up the clacker without a fight!

Riddle me this: Why is vehicle registration soooooo expensive in this country? ( just wait until the tobacco excise dries up & see what they hit next. Yep, you guessed it )  Why are there different classes of rego based on cylinders? Why do we have to pay rego on every car we have instead of having 1 set of number plates that we can transfer from car to car on any given day of the week?

Maybe i should run for PM. Oh wait ..... that door is closed!
