Hi

I have reason to believe that these blackouts are incorrect for an Oct 1972 Adelaide built vehicle. I believe that these are actually mid 1973. I have seen a picture recently that has a Feb 1973 with the same blackouts as an 8th month 1972.

Does anyone own an Oct/Nov 1972 Adelaide GTR or XU-1 to clarify this matter?

Thanks

Bazza

Hi Bazza,

I may be wrong but all the adelaide build lc/lj's I've seen have boot lid hinge black to the rear window channel basically whole boot is black, if you have a look at past projects on classic and muscle in Salisbury S.A on there website there's I think 6/72 adelaide build lj with some pics

Correct or not whoever masked it is either in kindergarten or needs a punch in the face.

True - it spent 4 years as a rally/race car back in the early '70s. If you think the masking is bad, you should have seen the bodywork under it.

Hi

There is plenty of evidence to show that there was a change to the format shown in my original post - it is a matter of when this occurred. Either around Oct '72 or between March '73 and the 73 Batrhurst cars. Adelaide cars only.

Cheers

Hi Mike

Thanks for that one. It is an April 1973 Adelaide. I am hoping for, and am pretty much convinced, that that particular boot format commenced in Oct 1972.

Cheers

Hi Bazza

I have photos of an unrestored 2/73 Adelaide XU with the same black outs as pictured.

Cheers Dane

Hi Dane

With the assistance of others - I am now convinced that mid Oct 1972 is the magic date that I am after. I did find a Feb 1973 done in the earlier style but I believe that one was incorrectly restored.

Thanks to everyone.

Cheers
