The CG will travel in some sort of circles in a dynamic situation around the static CG,can not do anything about it unless we put it on rails. That's probably why race cars have a "stiff" suspension to try and keep the CG and IC in a very general relationship to one another

while moving , and then roll centers come into play as well?...it is not as simple at first glance due to the dynamic nature of forces that

come into play?

But for the general idea of where the CG is, the first picture posted is probably fairly close to the mark.

it is bloody complicated stuff...

only quoting this because it is true... :)...of course this applies to all of us trying to get our head around things.. :)

But having said that , CG by all intents and purposes "should" be at the center and low as possible  of the vehicle ,not at some point fore or aft/up of the ideal.

probably the CG should be slightly rear of 'ideal' to allow for forces that come into play with all the other stuff going on..CG means center of gravity, albeit biased to the front in most cases...in which case it should be called the "quasi" CG because it is not the real CG in an ideal situation of balance?
