Just went and had a look at my torana thats in my mums shed. Haven't seen it for 10+ years and was just wondering if it is worth fixing the rust in it

anything can be fixed.. just depends how much time you want to put into it.

Cool i spent alot of money on the motor and running gear back when i first got my licence in the early 90's but the body has never been real flash.

Those 2 visible patches of rust in the photos are minor, depends on what you find once you investigate further.
Is it worth fixing, do you want to do it, have the time, money or skill to do it is up to you.
What is it worth to you to have a restored Torana?
Maybe give it a wash and a vacuum to help with your decision

Apart from the first two pictures it doesn't look too bad, even those can be fixed rather easily but you really need to investigate how far the rust goes. If it spreads to structural components it won't be much joy but still can be fixed. If you do it yourself you'll have a nice project on your hands.

You don't have to drive a show Torana; mine looks worse for wear but it's mechanically A1. I still get a lot of comments and it's fun to drive. One day I may bring it up to better condition but I'll leave that for the future to decide; right now I'm having fun driving it and it suits me fine.

I did exactly the same thing btw. A long period of unemployment had my car in my mum's garage collecting dust for over 10 years. The brakes had seized, the engine was clapped out but I threw in a new engine and fixed it slowly. It was unreal when I finally got it back on the road and visited friends who I used to take out on drives; they're all still amazed I have it and it's roadworthy.

Looks alright to me.
I agree with the other guys that said give her a wash and see how you feel.
If you're not feeling the love it may be time to set her free, but if its there then go for it.

Looks like it was originally a 4.2 (L32) SL/R, unless the badges were put on afterwards.
A cross between an L34 and A9X replica; paint scheme is a mixture of both, or L34 with A9X bonnet & scoop.

Yeah i dont know much about it really only looked it up the other day. In this picture it hasnt got the original bonnet on it [url=http://s1069.photobu...obrip.png.html][/URL

Put up the tag details, we'll tell you exactly how it was released. G'box, diff, paint, trim, etc.

Is the Pope a Catholic?
Fix it.

I say its no where near to far gone from what we have seen thus far.
It will likely be gone in the usual spots as well behind the bonnet hinges and under the plenum etc.
If you have the skills and equipment, fix it yourself.
If you are prepared to learn the skills and acquire the equipment, fix it yourself.
If neither of the above apply, find someone experienced with this kind of work who can fix it for you. Read, dont take it to the local panel shop. You dont have your exact location listed so cant really reccomend anyone, but there are specialty shops scattered all around the country who are geared up and skilled up to do this kind of work faster, cheaper and to a higher standard than the local crash repair joint.
Failing all of the above sell it to me for $600.
