Is it the alloy-headed Aussie V8 pictured in your garage?

Yes its an injected motor. Holden 304 stroked to a 383.

Im running standard fuel rails with Bosch blue top injectors.

Motor was running fine. I pulled it all apart to get my body restored.

When i try to crank,it kinda happens instantly.  Very slow to crank (quarter of a turn and then its stops.)

I dont think all cylinders are filling but there is definitely fuel coming out of a few.

My breathers are gong back into the tank and the canister hose for now i have conected it to the filler neck.

It's just a question of eliminating all sources of fuel, then re-introduce them one by one.

Disconnect and block the vacuum lines to the charcoal canister and pull the fuse from the fuel pump(s), crank the motor to confirm it doesn't hydraulic lock again.

If it cranks okay then I'd pull all the electrical connectors from the injectors, power up the pump again and see what happens, maybe an injector is stuck open?

If it still cranks okay then start re-connecting injectors etc., maybe you have a wiring problem energizing an injector full time?

Thanks I will give that a go.
Before i do you think I should dump the oil out just in case fuel is in there?
Cause now I have a leak in my sump. Oil started dripping from the back of my
Sump gasket the minute I tried to crank it. Do u think its cause of the fuel mixing maybe?
When the car is on my hoist it drips oil constantly but when it on a flat surface it does not drip.
I had put a new genuine sump gasket on with silicone (spewing)

To get all the fuel out can I just spin the motor by hand or do I need to crank it when I disconnect the pumps ?

I've seen issues where injectors fail electrically and then can be used as a fire hose. Definitely change the oil, it's cheap insurance.

How high is the oil level now, the sump gasket may just be leaking because there's 5 litres of oil plus 10 litres of fuel in the sump?

If that's not the case and the dipstick reads okay, I wouldn't change it until after you've found and fixed this fuel problem, chances are you'll just contaminate the new oil and have to change it again?

You can spin the motor over on the starter with the plugs out, in fact it's a good way to get oil pressure pre first time startup, but it will make a hell of a mess in the engine bay, maybe cover everything with old blankets or something first?

If petrol has been sitting in the cylinder it will leak down past the rings in reasonably short time, if you're concerned about it I would err on the side of caution.

Not with a Holden V8, pump is not self priming

I drained the oil today and lucky that' I did. My sump holds 7.5l of oil and there was about 2 to 3litres of fuel mixed in.
Would fuel reach the rear main seal? I hope that's not leaking.
Tomorrow I will cover my engine bay and get the excess fuel out of the cylinders.
