After a lot of thought, I am seriously considering going from cyan blue to the original orchid metallic on the gtr, but as the paint code tag is the one I am missing I was wondering if anyone would know what the tag code would read on a 10/73 GTR. also the interior is the all black vinyl so did that have a code also? thanks

thanks Bazza, is that a pretty common interior code? and what are your opinions on orchid metallic? doesn't look like many have that colour, is it an undesirable colour as far as collector cars go?

Hi Greg
50X, being 'long-grain' black vinyl is the most common trim on 82911 variants. Orchid Metallic appears to have been fairly common ie. popular, from the data that I have collected. Certainly not undesirable. IMO the original colour is always the better option - others may disagree.

Hi All,
My 1973 LJ GTR is currently having a restoration including changing the colour back from yellow to the factory orchid metallic. Would anyone know how many LJ GTR's were built in orchid metallic?
I've heard conflicting stories over the years that orchid metallic is rare and desirable as well as common and undesirable. If anyone can help me on this that would be most appreciated.
Cheers

I have 18 Orchid Met 82911 recorded in my Torana database.
I also have recorded a further 5 x S & SL models in Orchid Met.
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
IMPO, if I was buying a turn key 82911 and I had to choose between one in Orchid Met and one in SMP I'd take the Orchid.
