I was in high school in 1976 to 1979 and my Town had a few brand new LX SS's in it from 202 to 308 and they were brand new cars and all had painted bumpers, and I bought two 1977 LX L31 SS's in the 1980's and they had painted bumpers and every LX SS car I have come across that were tagged SS's had painted bumpers. So Fact on painted bumpers.

Hairdressers drive Hatchbacks
F or F

Drive a Hatchback but wish I was a hairdresser then I'd have all of Geno's money  :stirpot:

Fact or Fiction

There were 50 SL/E VB Commodores made with left over A9X motor, gearbox & diff combo's

Most A9X's apart from the very first few were the same engine as a HZ or VB. So I'd say all manual 5.0L VB's had an "A9X engine"!

The basic long motor was essentially the same, but the sump, pick-up & all the ancillaries (alt, p/st & air con) were very different between VB & HZ.

A9X was closer to HZ, where at least the sump & pick-up were the same.

Very true, plus the engine mount adapters, exhaust manifolds and the bellhousing (which was part of the engine assembly as shipped from Fisherman's Bend). But in the context of the question if a VB was to be fitted with an engine "left over from A9X" all those things would have to be changed. IF GMH's schedule had made such a monumental an error and ordered 50 extra engines for an LX it would make far more sense to dump them into earlier 1978 HZ's, where there was far less things to be changed to fit them.

So are you ONLY owner of this Car?

Do you Have the original Dealer INVOICE??

So you the first owner ???????????? if not then the original colour coded bumpers have been replaced with the ones in this pic. It would of left the GMH Factory with colour coded bumpers, maybe the Dealer replaced the original bumper for first owner, be the only way it has them bumpers on it.
