Mate,

unless you have the Broadcast sheet, YOUR Wrong!

So are you ONLY owner of this Car?

Do you Have the original Dealer INVOICE??

FFS, it's even missing the Stripes and the Bumperettes. THESE were all standard on SS's

ok..all I can say is this is how I bought it from a dealer I am the second owner if I see the original owner who still lives in my town i'll ask him..it had the overiders on it but I took em off(still have them) when I last spoke to the first owner I asked him about the side stripes he said "I ordered it without"

hang on i'll him now...

Check with first owner, but my bet if he never wanted Colour Coded Bumpers on his SS, then when it arrived at the Dealership where he ordered the Hatch, they took off the colour coded bumpers and replaced them with the ones on it now.

Or just maybe the dealership asked the Factory to not put on the Colour Coded Bumpers and put on the ones that are on it, just maybe, but this is a rare request if it happened that way.

As all LX SS's had the Painted Bumpers.

AL

PS The Factory may made a mistake and fitted the wrong bumpers, but you would a assume there would be QC at the Plant and that would not happen.

If I recall correctly, an A9X broadcast sheet states the things to be deleted including painted bars, side strip and gasp!.......the radio!

So it was within the factory's system to "delete" standard fitment where required.

There was a black XY GTHO I saw that apparently had the external GT strip deleted.

There is an A9X without the "SLR5000" on the rear spoiler as ordered from the GMH dealer.

BUT the painted bars are standard!

The Broadcast sheet for an A9X has PLN (in box 51) for the Bars and -- (in Box 60) for the stripes.

Mint julep..

it must be a very early Build if yours have a dipper switch on the floor.

Hey Barry

does that have PO XW1?  If so can you tell me what it is?

cheers

MIck

On that sheet for 309

G80 means LSD

N10 means dual exhaust

U80 = Rear seat speaker

PO is the wheel trims ie

PO1 = Wheel Trim - chrome centre with chrome nuts

PO2 = Wheel trim

PO3 = Wheel trim & chrome nuts

PO3 = Wheel cover - use with N70 wheels

PO6 = Wheel trim ring

Are all codes for wheels from LJ through to WB & VH so obviously that PO is a wheel trim number and the car had alloy wheels on it similar to what I have seen on a UC SL

AND believe it or not XW1 is Senator 180 KW (VP & VR)

VB Commodore had a production volume from 1978 of 95,906

Yes painted bars were STANDARD equipment, but that wasn't the statement made, which was did ALL SS's have them.

The fact that there was a delete-option on the build sheet means you can't rule-out somebody ordering one without them, and it only takes one SS to make the "fact" false.

So the Question should have been....

Are Colour Coded Bumper Bars STANDARD on LX SS's...

That would be a yes!

Could you order Chrome Bars for an LX SS??

That would be a yes also!

Are Chrome Bumper Bars STANDARD on LX SLR5000's...

That would be a yes!

That would be a yes also!

Could you have an SS without the Stripes??

The Holden paperwork that I have says that they were "Mandatory", but I know of a handful of cars that left the dealership without them...

Back in the Day, you could just about do what yoou wanted..
