Only, it's not 001... it's a VB not a VC and it was John Harveys car. Doesn't make it any less valuable though

#000 VB SL Atlantis Blue Manual 4.2 was the mechanical prototype built in the service dept of United motors (Vin Kean)
#001 VB SLE Sage Green was the approval car for the dealer council. e.g. This is what it is going to look like as a finished product. Obviously paint and trim changes were made.
The first HDT SV cars were always aimed at the high end luxury/performance market, so the SL #000 was just a mechanical prototype. It was Hayes's runabout before being donated to the project.
Of the first 519 HDT SV cars built, #001 is the only one to wear #001 engraved on the steering wheel and no other has surfaced.
Is it a prototype, the advertisement by John Harvey says so! Is it a or the first VC HDT, the steering wheel says so.
Why the confusion, IMHO just HDT trying to talk up the sales appeal/history/price of a no longer required car. Did they really have to?
Interestingly, once GMH came onboard prototypes are very thin on the ground.

On that subject of prototypes, this is a very interesting thread. Gets a bit bogged down in stupid arguments but interesting all the same...

Someone really wanted it paying that much for it. A Brock collector from WA I think.

For some reason I found the #000 car more interesting sadly it got sent to wreckers & crushed..pics of it on brock commo site.
Remember this green car being up for sale a few times over last decade...hard to see it as no.1 more like a prototype.
Reckon the vc brock driven by Peter in his publicity race when brockies came out as more valuable or any of the other cars used in the race tbh.

According to John Harvey this car was his company car, not a prototype and not 001, 001 was the first VC built. Phil Brock also is saying 001 was reserved for the first of the VC's

According to owner this is oo1 as he has the steering wheel...knows where no.2 car is & nobody according to him has found a white or black or red brock numbered as oo1.
Surely there would be proper history documented on this car somewhere especially as back in the day you could drive into brock shop or holden & basically order what you wanted.
Hard to see this as no.1 if it's a vb & especially when they're all presented as black, white or red cars vc commo's.
Balifizar: Thanks, good to see it's alive.

John Harvey says 001 was actually a red VC that was his personal car, HDT076 numberplates. The green car never had 001 on the steering wheel in the time he drove it. The VC 001 hasn't been seen since it was sold.

Well, Phil Brock is backing him, so I wouldn't tell either of them they are lying, and why would they?
