I assume "3G7" would be 3rd July 1977 but what does the "E" stand for?

NIce work with the door, lot of work to repair all that.
Those clamps you use to hold the panel together, are you using a bolt through the join? Are they home made or a commercial product?
I would be interested in seeing how they work.
