Hi guys, just finished prepping my engine bay for colour (my fingers hurt) i want to paint the engine bay, and my plan after that is to remove my front end and recondition it. And then reinstall, and fit the engine and gearbox before painting the rest of the car. But back to my question, i would like to ask everyone if you have any tips for painting a engine bay, like gun setup and techniques, i know there are a lot of angles and lips you have to get paint into and underneath. Any tips will be taken seriously a may help create a nice LX engine bay.

Thanks Slar, have to work out if i can spend that much on a gun that isn't getting used that often, the first one in the video seems to be the one i would need as i am using the same paint as you only mine is green and doing the same blackouts, probably be worth the money if it comes out anything like yours, its an awesome finish, Cheers

Whenever I buy tools/equipment I weigh in how much it would cost a professional to do it. One example, spending ~ $200 on a hammer drill; at the time it would've cost $260 for a professional to come out and install a lock and drill one hole into concrete so I bought a good drill of similar value and have used it countless times since. Of course if you only plan to use it the once; there's always ebay to get some of your money back. You could also look into getting a second hand one with low mileage.

True, $600 or $700 on a spray gun is very cheap compared to a professional doing the complete job which would easily run into around $5000, I would use it a bit but like you said if this is the last time i spray, a good quality gun will always sell on ebay to get some money back.

Great info, those d cups would be great in tight spots and for getting under areas without the gun running out of paint. Think i might have to invest in one, the old STAR model might have to be retired, it will be good for primer anyway. Cheers
