No need for an overly early start, so we got up at 7 and got ourselves ready. We cruised out and stopped at the Beechworth Bakery for breaky. This is a great bakery, highly recommend.
From there our check point for the day was the Castlemain Rod Shop. We were able to walk around freely and havea look through the front of house, and the workshop. There were some interesting builds taking place. One was the LC/LJ that has a thread here somewhere. It hasn't progressed much from the last post, but was good to see in person.
The other interesting build was an XP/XM track car. This has has so much fabrication, I don't know tht you can really call it a Ford anymore.
Photos to come.
We left there and hit the highway once again to finish up back at Calder. All up about 150km. We had only just gotten back on the highway when we caught a few guys on the side of the road. The orange four door Torana had lost a transmission line and had a small fire under the car. Lucky enough he got it out without too muh fuss or damage. He got some new hose and oil dropped off to him by one of the other guys, and he was off once again.
When we arrived at Calder I felt the weight of the world leave my shoulders. We had made it. Such a great feeling to drive in!
Before putting my ET Streets back on, I thought I would do a pass on my street tyres to see how I would go. As it turned out I got absolutely no grip and spun nearly the entire track. That didn't work at all. Don't even remember my time but it was in the 14's somewhere.
So the slicks went on and off we went. Pass after pass. Burnouts getting bigger and bigger (probably not a great idea), and the times not getting any better. I got oe close to where I wanted but not quite exactly where I wanted. So, I just kept circulating. I was getting frustrated and let the clutch go a bit high in the revs and that was as far as I got. I broke the diff centre housing. Lucky enough I had a time slip to hand in, and I really wasn't too worried.
I made a call and got a lift home to pick up my car and trailer.
Most of the others let their hair down also and were pushing as hard as they could. I don't think there were any other broken parts, but I do know I was not the only one to push my car back on to a trailer. There were quite a few casualties.
For those still going after the 3:00 cut off for time slips and wanted more, it was heads up racing time. This was really good to watch and very entertaining.
It was great to see a naturally aspirated Capri take on the turbo guys for the win. Well almost, he actually ended up with a red light. He would have cleaned up though.
The winner of the heads up was the Black VH commodore. I must say, that guy can drive. He seriously has to pedal that car down the track.
This brings me to the end.
Overall it was Quentin in the pink Torana that took out his class and the overall win by .013 of a second. Well done to him and his team.
We had a great time and met some funny, cool and like minded people. As I said earlier, there really was no dick measuring and no one that I thought was an idiot and shouldn't have been there.
If anyone is thinking about doing it next year, be ready! You will need to be an 11 second car at least. I spoke to them about mine and they did say I needed to step it up. They want to maintain a level of performance.
The other hint, is make sure you know the week points and get them sorted prior. If I have said it once, I have said it 100 times. This event is harsh on your car. Aspirated or boosted!!!
Anyway that's enough shit from me. Hope you enjoyed my run down

Once finished he was going to drive back through Sydney with a couple of the others and run the drag strip just for shits and giggles on the way home.
He is a really nice guy. Glad I got to meet him

how where the cops? many defects?

The only defects were the LC and the VK. I don't know if it was because they were on their own or not.
The funny part with the defect was the cop saw the window washer squirters on the bonnet, but wasn't happy because the bottle had no water.
The squirters were for the nitros purge

:driving:Great stuff, good to see these cars used for what they are build for, doesn't look like anybody took it easy either, those running repairs would take you out of your comfort zone.

Top article in streetmachine by that hobo looking Scotty haha.
Bit shocked by number of Malts involved, surprised to see none were my relo's.
Good to Streetmachine is turning back into one of the better magazines while the rest seem to be toilet paper in comparison.
Dude with Centura doing massive drive no radio.OMFG!
