How is everyone securing their battery boxes (ie. A typical boot installation)?

Mine is currently in my boot, held in place with the strap which only runs through the plastic tie-down mounts which are simply screwed into the boot floor.

Whilst this works ok, I would prefer something a bit stronger. And also something that would be sure to pass any kind of Motorsport scrutineering check.

I have a few ideas, but would like to hear what others have done.

Bolt the box through the floor with 4 bolts.

Then get two pieces of threaded rod, drill through the box and the floor, nut under the floor and nut inside the box to secure them, these are the studs for the battery hold down.

Fabricate a hold down, either some 25 x 3 angle or 25 x 6 flatbar, and wala. When you do the battery down it pulls the box tighter onto the floor because the studs are through the floor.

Will pass any scruitiny that I'm aware of.

You could just replace the plastic tie down mounts with stainless.

You should be able to find stainless steel footman's loops to suit your strap at a marine hardware store.

Thanks guys, some good stuff there.

The only other thing I was considering was replacing the plastic tie downs with steel and welding them to the floor as opposed to using self tappers.

I really like bombers idea but it just means removing my drop tank, making it a bigger job. Happy to do that if it means a better result though.

Good food for thought, cheers.
