Anthony , glad to hear your comment above , so do the owners of single cast 150 ex police car blocks get an apology for your previous comments claiming they were restamps ?

I would expand that apology to include any genuine single cast date 150 list JP engine. There is a very good chance that single cast date blocks also got fitted to XU1's that didn't end up serving time in law enforcement.

The chances of a ex cop car or ex race car having there original duel cast block is about a 1 in 100 chance.......... Though we have found 1 so maybe a 1 in 50 chance,,,,,,,,,,,,

So far 4 forum members who own 1973 Bathurst Homologation Specials have come forward with there genuine dual cast blocks.

And if those 4 dual cast date blocks check out as being original and not restamps then there is no dispute about those 4 engines.

They are what GMH fitted on the production line to those 4 cars.

With a minimum of 250 being required under the C.A.M.S. rules.

Did you know that the JP is in a different position on the pad, compared to a QL, a common mistake made by restampers.........

I've heard on the grapevine that you are the expert on restamps so obviously you don't make that mistake then.

That's because they don't have the second date code thus cannot have their original dual date coded engine as they never had one in the first place.

Good on them, if those four engines are on the 150 list and they have a second date code so be it. My guess is you are talking out of your proverbial again and trying to claim 250 engines and including some of those non-150 list engines.

Ahhh, I see what you mean Bruce. The 'JP' in the wrong location gives it away every time.

Whoever restamped these blocks should have asked for your advice 1st.

But are all 8 150 list engines? I can remember at least 4 x 150 list engines on this forum that only have one cast date. My bet is there were a lot more, but no-one will ever find all of them so we'll never know.

Anth have 8 dual casts been shown? l can't recall that many. Can you please list them all. And again thank you for finally acknowledging that my single cast is a legit 150 list motor. It would have been better to have done so a few months back rather trying create doubt that it may have been dodgy. But better late than never. And yes mine as you know is not stamped with the mythical '3'. It is '6'. So thanks buddy and how about we end this post right here.

Byron, my bet is at least 60% of the 150 list engines were manufactured using single cast date blocks but unfortunately 43 years later we will never know for sure.

Fly you know very well which ones are re-manufactured, don't play dumb. That is more than likely what all this is about, I've heard the same things on the grapevine as others.

I'd still like to know why you think only 1 in 50-100 or whatever ex-police cars can still have their original engines? There were huge amounts of VC-VK ex-cop cars around in the mid to late 90's, all with their original engines. Many of these were even pre-V5H engines and most had small standard rods and single row timing chain sets, and still had Aussie 4spds. Why would an XU1 Police car be any different in the 80's? In fact there were probably more engines than cars as the cars got written off and wrecked out. The two 150-list single cast date engines I know first hand were from as far back as the mid 80's, both were original engines then and still are original engines now. One of them when rebuilt in the 90's had almost no wear in the bore other than a scratch. Keith's engine outlived the XU1 it came from by a long way - it had been repurposed into an LX hatchback in the later 80's after its car was written off. Another forum member from the past bought his, an ex-cop car when it was only two odd years old and it still has its original 150 list single date coded engine. They WILL NOT be restamped blocks in the 80's - the cars were worth stuff-all then, like VY-VZ SS are today. If they blew an engine they'd get a QL or ZL or another JP - no-one cared about original engines. The only legitimate restamps I've ever seen from that time period are V8's that have been decked - engine shops either restamped the original number or they got Police issued numbers.

Yeah don't ask you because you don't have a clue what the truth is.
