It would be nice to see the local GMH and Ford engineers get together.
Perhaps release a turbo inline six powered folden?

As for replacement of Highway Patrol cars.
I wonder if the Victoria Crown will be imported by fraud?
It seems to be the universal HWP car in the US

Funny thing they say we don't buy big cars any more and they are not wanted, when the commodore has been in the top 3 or 4 cars forever and only 1000 units separates the top 4. So does that mean Mazda 3's or Corolla's are also on the way out?

Didn't the Crown Vic cease production a few years ago.
I thought that most Police interceptors in the USA these days were either Dodge Chargers or Chevrolet Caprice. The Ford cop car of choice is a special build Taurus.

Yeah,Reckon the Crown Vic fizzled out, and that was supposed to be the moment of glory were we swamped the U.S. with Stateman/Caprice cop cars....but didnt quite happen.
The Crown Vic. was a very old car by that time, I think I read that its main claim to fame was its huge arse, which allowed it to be rear ended at 60mph ?? while parked on the side of an interstate, without substantial passenger area damage.........or somethin like that.
We hired a Crown Vic in the USA in 2010 and it was very old school, dash was like a park bench.

Yeah checked it out.
Ceased production in 2010 or 2011
There are Chev Impalas being used.
It has surprising similarities to VF
Australia will always want a rear wheel drive 4 door V8.
But where will it come from?

Hyundai Genesis. We only get the V6 version at the moment, it is available in V8 in LHD. It really has come to this, unless BMW or Mercs suddenly get a lot cheaper!

The Chevrolet Caprice was a LHD VE produced at Elizabeth. Found some pics that look like LHD VF's with Bowties on the grille. Caprice or Impala?
Pics I found of the 2015 Chevrolet Impala don't appear to bear that much resemblance to a VF Commodore.

I don't see much resemblance between the Impala & the Chev Caprice (VE) either.
The Impala is a FWD car, looks a like a slightly larger Malibu.

Also reminds me of the Torana concept car from back in 2004?

Both horrid looking cars from that angle.
I had a close look at the Impalas when I was in the USA and couldn't believe what they'd done to the Impala name.

Take the GM out of GMH!
Build engines and parts under license but run Holden as an Australian company not a 'branch' of the US GM.
Make 'white vans'! How many different brands of work vans do you see on the roads? Surely we could make 2 or 3 different sized vans? Piece of pie we haven't touched...
Make the bodies in bits overseas where it's cheaper to do so and put them together here. Pallets of pressed metal shapes would be more efficient(?) than assembled bodies.
Move the factory to a spot more ideal for freight. Down near the port? Near boats and even more accessible by trains and trucks. Yes land is expensive- build up! Make a 2 or 3 storey factory?
Offer more choice of engines per model. Use cloth on the interior in colours other than a shade of grey. Put stereos in that can either play whatever or plug in whatever you've got.
As has been mentioned previously- the amount of Govt. cars that are not local brands is, well, pretty much all of them!
Try to give a discount to Gov and fleet buyers- the 2 groups that seem to be excluded in runout and discount sale vehicles.
I personally know a couple of cops that wonder what kind of Hyundai hatchback they will end up with after 2017??

They have been doing this since the start of VE. Most of it is done in a Daewoo factory in Korea.

GM won't be capitulating the Holden brand any time soon.
AFAIK the idea of 'Fleet' sales is offering vehicles at heavily discounted prices.
