There is a Test & Tune coming up guys - Sun 28th Feb.

One of the car clubs I'm involved with (Eastside Cruisers) are heading up to have a play. Should be some cool cars out and about.

I'm planning to take mine up for a bit of fun (just on street tyres), so not expecting perfect times, but will be good to see what this engine does. I don't think I've raced for close to 10 years!

I'm told the burnout pad will also be open.

Usual deal - $60 to race, $20 to spectate.

Gates open 8:30am, scrutineering 10:00am - 3:00pm, racing 11:00am - 4:00pm.

Yell out if you're interested!

If that changes I will let you know.

Good luck guys

My car has been in bits for the last 2 weeks, time for some long overdue preventative maintenance!

Radiator needed a new top tank, thermostat was buggered too. Cooling system is filthy, going to try a flush. Replaced my old line locker that died, new ones in and working. Engine oil and filter change, trans service. Shouted it a new rotor and dizzy cap.

Still gotta do plugs and check some basics, then make sure the new radiator doesn't leak.

On track for Sunday!

Looking forward to Sunday. I'll be cruising up with my father in law who's racing his white EH sedan (supercharged V6) - really keen to see what it runs. Look out for us.

Shame you couldn't make it Peter! I caught up with Daz and we got to have a play... here's my story on the day...

We ended up taking the 3 kids up for their first ever dag at the drags.

6 year old loved it. He will make for good pit crew in due course.

3 year old was more interested playing with his monster trucks in the dirt. If he had food he was happy.

6 month old bubs was surprisingly happy too. The serenity perhaps of race car noise and fuel.

Anyway, onto the cars...

Did the 2 hour trek up in mine (perfect weather for a cruise by the way, I had a ball). Didn't touch anything on the car besides lowering the tyre pressure slightly and then hit the track straight after scrutineering. Going into the day I didn't have high hopes, but have been really intrigued to see what this current combo would do after about an 8 year break from racing. I can't afford slicks anymore, so raced on my dirty old Maxxis street tyres, full street trim, exhaust on etc etc. This current engine combo is down by 15rwkW on my previous one (current 230kW versus old 245 rwkW). Plus much smaller extractors (Tri-Y's) and smaller twin system. I was expecting to run worst case mid 12's, and hopefully to see low 12's. No idea if the Maxxis would hook up or not.

First pass - 12.19 @ 115MPH. 60 ft 1.99. Car was spinning the tyres, and then spinning hard again when hitting 2nd gear. Starting pressure was 26PSI.

Second pass - 12.04 @ 114MPH. 60 ft 1.85. Pressure now around 23 PSI. Still some small wheel spin.

I thought hang on there's gotta be an 11 here surely. After 8 years it was taking me a bit to get the feel back, so manned up and did a bigger burnout, and got into it harder off the line.

Third pass - 11.87 @ 115 MPH. 60 ft 1.78. Wasn't expecting that! Pressure drop to 20 PSI was a good one.

Fourth pass - completely fried the tyres and went 12.6 (60 ft 2.3 LOL).

Fifth pass - 11.82 @ 116 MPH. 60 ft 1.76. Felt great, knocking on the door of 11.7's which is the best my old combo ever managed to achieve (specifically 11.77). Not happy with these 60 ft times though (with slicks I used to run 1.62).

I was still getting the feel back though - don't even think I was hitting the throttle hard enough, but more laying into it progressively. Need some more runs.

But next I took my sister as a passenger (she loved it) - and went 11.9.

Then the missus jumped behind the wheel for a couple of passes but went 13.1 smoking the tyres!!

All of a sudden it was 4pm and track was closed.

Great day for me!

Should be happy with that result Brett.  High 11's for a street car is awesome especially given it was in full street trim.  Well done!

Yep, was a great day.

I can't remember the last time I've seen so many cars at Heathcote...especially Torana's - heaps of them!

Was good cruising up with Wayne (him and his boy in his Corvette :D ) and we met Steve up there.

It is amazing how well set up Bretts car is. Awesome to watch it run....11.8 consistently with 230rwkw!

On the opposite end of the scale, I couldn't get my thing to hook up at all with my street tyres so after 2 shitful runs, gave up and went back to watching the rest of them get after it.

All in all, a top day. Saw a few 9 second cars and 1 or 2 which look certain to go into the 8s.
