So I’ve ended up going with Foilboard. 60 sheets that are 1200 x 2400 x 20.

I’m starting to think it would have been easier to rip the roof off this shed. 2 bays took me 2 full days. And my neck is stuffed from working upside down and going up and down ladders for each and every screw….

This is going to take a while…… it’s hard going trying to do this on your own…

Hire a scissor lift for a day. Worth every cent.

Yep I just got a few quotes for 5 days. Range from $376 at Global Hire through to $1000 from Kennards. All for a 19ft lift.

I’m currently going up and down an 8ft and a 12ft ladder as it’s 4.1m at the peak, 3.3m at the gutter.

I think having that 100mm air gap will allow it to perform pretty well. Instead of having it placed directly under the sheet of iron.

Hire the scissor and get your light sockets and pendant chains and wires hung etc. even run compressed air lines.
What actually works well if you don’t have overhead obstructions is a semi-taut wire run across the shed between posts. Put some sliders on it (nylon or trolley like below link) and put a 15-20m heavy duty lead and compressed air hose along it hanging from the trolleys. Just loop the hose and lead so you can slide it back and forwards across the shed. A length of rope or plastic chain at the end with lead socket and compressed air socket so you can tie the two to it and so you can pull it along. Just put a GPO at the wall/fixed end of it and plug the lead in.

Brad, how much are you paying per sheet of the foilboard if you dont mind me asking?

No one stocks the 20mm sheets up here. But Bunnings have 25mm sheets in stock. This changed a little. I’ve got 60 sheets and 3 boxes of fasteners. Looks like $47.87 inc GST per sheet.

Scissor lift is certainly making the job more efficient. Still hard on the neck. Taking me a day to do 1 half a bay…..

Scissor lift has been returned. Best $376 I’ve spent. Sad to see it go. Had it for a week and made good progress. All the sheets are up that needed the lift. Also got all the LED lights fitted and wired. Next up is 5 new 1400mm ceiling fans. Might be a job for next weekend….. back on the ladder again….. doh!!!!

You going to do anything to the walls insulation wise?

I should. And it will help a lot as the western wall on the right of the image gets hot. I removed some Kingspan foam type insulation that the previous owner had attempted to fit on the ceiling.... Im thinking of just screwing that to the walls. I think it will look a bit un-tidy though, the way it did on the ceiling.... The walls are East/West facing. The eastern face has 3 roller doors and 2 bays of wall. The northern face also has roller doors. So its only the 2 eastern facing walls and western facing walls that I could do anything with.

Go around to a few building sites once lockdown finishes and see if you can get hold of left over roof and wall insulation. They normally have a few bales over ordered that get chucked. Either they’ll let you have it or have a few longnecks in the car as payment. Over three or four building sites you’ll probably get enough.

Otherwise I was thinking of more foilboard on the walls...? Im just worried about it getting punctured or damaged.

We did my mates with R3 bats behind 22mm particle board. Was expensive but was well worth it :-) Especially here in Canberra ...

 It is also good for sound proofing. He now has a very cosy mancave with all his memorabilia mounted nicely :-)

Any ideas on cost at all? A 2400 x 1200 x 20 sheet of Foilboard is $47. Just wondering what bats and particle board would end up costing?
