The fact that a Hyundai I30 is Australia's biggest selling car is no surprise ! This outcome is merely reflective of the fact that Australians love affair with the Automobile ended the best part of a decade ago. While the five percent of us who still take pride in what we drive or are planning to drive argue over Ford versus Holden, the rest are lining up eagerly to buy Chinese crap to save a few dollars. If Australians treated their houses the way they treat their cars our cities would look like shanty towns. Of course our government has fast tracked the domestic automobiles demise by signing one sided free trade agreements with such glowing beacons of democracy as China. And naturally most Australians are only too happy with the outcome !

I had a manual VSIII S ute and a manual VY SS ute and they are a pain in traffic everyday, not to mention useless as a ute for reversing with a trailer or with a load in the back. As a fun car the manuals are great but for everyday driving these VFII (and VE-VF) V8's are basically redundant as a manual, the autos are simply better in every way, and until VFII release the autos used significantly less fuel (cylinder shutdown turned off in VFII). I simply wouldn't have a manual in one. But as stated, each to their own.

Hyundai Excels are way older than that ...................

I understand your point. I travel 80km one way to work and drive an auto. Every so often I drive the Torana to work for fun (manual), and it's not too bad, but everyday would suck. And I agree totally with reversing or with loads.I had a manual VSIII S ute and a manual VY SS ute and they are a pain in traffic everyday, not to mention useless as a ute for reversing with a trailer or with a load in the back. As a fun car the manuals are great but for everyday driving these VFII (and VE-VF) V8's are basically redundant as a manual, the autos are simply better in every way, and until VFII release the autos used significantly less fuel (cylinder shutdown turned off in VFII). On a side note, are you saying that VFII don't have the cylinder shutdown?
Does it make much of a difference in fuel consumption that you are aware of?

If I was going to spend 165 gorillas on the best sports car built in this country, I wouldn't be driving it to work every day. And when I was driving it, I would want it to be a "fun car".
VF 2 has no cylinder deactivation. 44 extra killawasps. 1.1 litres more per 100 kays. Good trade off I reckon.

The Yanks think the VF is better than sliced bread.
No they don't.
Go speak with an American car guy and ask them what they and he public think of the Aussie imports (Monaro v2, SS, caprice etc).

Why wouldn't they love them? I spent two weeks driving various cars over there a few years ago and they were waaaay behind the VE in terms of EVERYTHING. They were absolute piles of snot. (This included the Shelby GT350)

Needs more power. The Charger Hellcat has over 700hp, and is the fastest 4 door in the world. It needs to surpass the Hellcat, cheers Aaron.
It's only 70hp the hsv may be quicker ?

As for the Aussie imports into USA, talk to an American. Rightly or wrongly, the Aussie imports are considered shitboxes
#123 _Bomber Watson_
Posted 28 May 2016 - 09:35 PM
The same way third world imports shoudl be considered shitboxes here, but apparently Australia as a country is dumber than America, and thats frOcking scary.

please...never refer to US as a reference....Ive been there on 5 occassions, and they are mostly., unaware that there is a world outside of their own borders.
Their news is totally US-centric. They know of little outside world.........it really is suprising.
You are waiting for the punch line....but they arent joking.
I can recall being in a burger place ( not sure of the name, but not /maccas, as they are pretty small over there)...and joking with the sales chick that we were from Australia, and were pretty hungry as it was a 14 hour drive ......she just said Ok.!!!...what do you want to order........NFI.
I'm seriously considering a last SSV or HSV and the auto vs manual question is a real issue.....week day drive a 6 speed is a pain....weekend drive a manual is a hoot.....BUT...surely a V8 should be a manual????
