Well after getting rid of the turbo Paseo while she was running just right, before anything blew up I needed a new daily.
Enter my second van, a 2004 Mitsubishi Express, the difference is, this van is on the road and registered, and didnt sit in my backyard unfinished for 4 years like my '84 Econovan did. Bought it off my mate with 8 months rego and fairly low km for a working van this age. 2 litre manual, she drives like new and goes alright too. But I can't leave cars alone. It needed to be tidy and have a banging system.
Parked up in King St, Newtown.
Had the drivers side cargo glass fitted to get rid of bodgy repairs in the metal blank panels, was the easiest way haha! Also scored a set of dress rings for fitting a stereo to the ute I got them off of!
The back as I got it, before fitting the drivers side windows or cleaning anything. Was once a painters van so that explains all the random paint spatters. The mate I bought it off of is a mobile detailer and was his old work van so it was a right pain getting rid of silicone residue before I painted.
Couple of sheets of MDF and I have a new rear floor.
Masked up and painted the inside with 3 coats of satin white Rustoleum after a thorough sanding and prepsol.
Which came out surprisingly good!
Getting all the wiring in for the amplifiers
And after my sister made up the new rear trims, fitted it all up! 6mm MDF, instead of trying to use original style pop clips to hold the panels in, drilled out the original holes, put M6 nutserts in and used stainless countersunk bolts and cup washers to fit them attractively and securely.
Still need to build and trim a box for these babies, and also do the front trims and get a decent set of speakers into the front as well.
JVC CD/Tuner/USB/Bluetooth and all the rest, and a Fusion FX-45 EQ/Processor feeds it all. Mainly because rather than flick through menu's I can adjust the various tone levels via traditional knob. Plus it looks cool, and like the amplifiers I had them lying around. Just need to make a filler plate below the processor to fill the ugly gap.
