Pity you aren't closer OJ

I'd love to do some video work on your project and follow it through to the outcome. Would make a good mini doco

Awesome.

Sorry, could you please upload some photos of the Holden six conversion for this motorbike? I can only see a two banger in there so far which suggests this project is nowhere near complete.

Some inspiration:

Issue #52 of Transmoto Dirt Bike Magazine had an article about Nigel Petrie, a fitter and turner who transformed a well-used KTM 350SX-F into a salt racer that set an Australian land speed record at Lake Gairdner in 2015.
The build and the record attempt are the subject of a documentary, “Flats” that captures the entire project on film. Download the film and have a look – it is quite an adventure. Nigel and his mate Dean travel by motorcycle from Geelong to the Salt Flats encountering a number of mechanical and other dramas along the way. Once at the Salt Flats they achieve an Australian class record of 196.93kph on the home built motorcycle.
If any of this stuff interests you, then Nigel’s blog page Engineered to Slide  http://engineeredtoslide.com/blog/ is well worth perusing.

That's great stuff Steve, thank you. I also enjoyed the two-part BBC doco "Speed Dreams", about a half dozen or so pommy teams and their attempts at Bonneville. I was gobsmacked at how little testing some of them carried out before heading across the Atlantic. It seems that if you test the living shit out of your bike, the weather's on your side and you have incredibly good luck then you may have some tiny, tiny chance of success. If you don't test it within an inch of its life then your chances of success are zero or a bit less.

I dunno about that. I'm not very photogenic and 90% of the work is just plodding, tedious stuff - hours and hours of sums and drawing, interspersed with sessions on the spanners. I'm looking forward to the time when I can spend more time on the dyno.

It's actually a one-banger Heath, but the 202 went in fairly easily and the SU's really set it off nicely. But I'm having a hell of a time with the Trimatic...

You'd be surprised what looks good on camera. Most of the early stages is just artsy stuff and narrating haha

Excuse the nomenclature, I thought bike guys called them 2-bangers and 4-bangers referring to the strokes rather than cylinder counts... just to make it confusing

I'm gonna guess that he's got the shits after what happened in the finite pressure wave thread, rightly so. (Which I thoroughly enjoyed reading!)
Probably why the Holden 6 guide is no longer?

I did get an update from the gofundme page but I was hoping he would get on the forum for an update. I didn't know he wasn't around here anymore.  It's a shame.

I also got an email update on the speed record attempt. It is getting close, so I imagine he is a busy man.

I've decided to go for a bit of a drive and have a look. I reckon I'll get there on the Tuesday and hang about until Thursday. Then call into Maralinga on the way home. Anybody else heading to Lake Gairdiner?

Just come back from Lake Gairdner for this years Speed Week.

From the runs I saw Oldjohnno do his best time was 127.605 mph (205.36 kph)
