Where does Gene actually state that he is the one reconditioning these pumps?

Could be his missus fixing them up. :)

$250.00 for a pump sounds a bit spensive though.

Just saying.

Dave without me being nasty if you got no idea about these pumps id prefer if you kept your comments to your self
go and recon one yourself see how much it cost you to get to that condition its a bit of a process
if you dont want one a simple no would have been sufficient
instead of mouthing off

Just Saying

I've got to agree with gene here. By the time you get a decent used pump, strip it down, thoroughly clean everything, replate the parts, purchase the kits and add your labour to rebuild it I can see where the price is justified.

Simply if you're not interested in one and have nothing useful to add to the conversation or don't have a sensible question then there's no need to post any comments, or a simple no thanks will do.

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezuz, just having a friendly joust that's all.

I've reco'd a few red and grey motor fuel pumps in my time. Can't say I've gone the route of re-plating all the bibs n bobs though. Just used the best looking bits from a couple of pumps and a new Goss repair kit to build up a pump.

I'm sitting on an absolute gold mine and in the interests of the free market economy favored by the OP I offer the same service for less.

Lol, yeah you got me I've got nothing to send out but I'll show you the stock I have to work with. So if my customers can wait then I'll take care of them in time.

Of course I won't because this is your thread Gene.

Competition is always good for any market,

a win win situation for the consumer.

Like buttons for the above. :)

Honestly, I think genes price is fair and the product looks good.

I'm guessing he's not making much an hour at that price point by the time all the costs come in.

defiantly a reasonable price, plating isnt exactly cheap to do if done properly, might have to go dig up all my glass bowl pumps

Literally impossible to buy goss holden 6 & ford 6 pumps nowadays about $300 retail roughly! So probably a good price. & we all know that these little jobs take like forever & if we had to pay someone else for every hour we'd spend it soon ad's up. & gene if you have given up the smokes congrats bud ! Im off them again for almost a week. Wanted to kill someone the other day, new baby in the family & not allowed to look after her smelling of duries! When things are going well i don't want to smoke any dramas straight up to the shop for a pack. Hard to quit
