I suspect my pump is on its way out, when I start up the engine it takes more cranks than usual and there's fuel drops on the garage floor, the pump is wet to the touch but after its primed and I go for a bit of a drive there's no leaks.

I'm after a mechanical fuel pump for 308 (originally from a VL Commo.)  Motor is mildly worked running a carby and only sees street/highway use.

What's a good brand that's value for money?

Why not put a rebuild kit thru it from Goss

It's not the original pump, there's no screws to undo the thing, it's all press fitted.

I might just have the original lying around somewhere I may try doing that if I can find it.

An L34 one is sufficient.  With a few little tweaks they will do the job perfectly.

The L34 pumps Rares sell push 7psi and look just like the 7 psi Goss ones on ebay and unserviceable. I've rung Burwood Carb Service and the guy says the kits are getting harder to find and it's much easier to just get a new pump.

Fuel Miser also do a version, just wondering if anyone has had experience with it, The replacement pump that carked it is a Goss, lasted as long as the original except it did much less, mileage wise.

I've ordered a Fuel Miser one from ebay $74 delivered with a few cents change.  I rang the guy at Burwood Carb centre asking which are better and he says they both get them from the same manufacturer. I also found some GM-H ones on ebay, more expensive and they look exactly the same so they probably all come from the same factory in China, lol.

Fuelmiser still do a kit. Interestingly under its listing it says "NOT FOR SL/R5000". I genuinely laughed when I read that.

The goss kits were discontinued some time back. Might be a few kicking about on a shelf somewhere.

That $74 price off eBay for a new Fuelmiser pump is very good.

The GM-H one listed by another seller is going for $129, the Goss ones are @ $100 so yeah, I'm not brand loyal when they're all the same thing. :)

I went into Repco today and ordered 10 x 6 cylinder ones

Good move. When I asked Tim for some feedback on the Goss/Miser pumps he said occasionally he did have some issues with the 6 cyl. ones due to them being high pressure but I should have no problem with the V8 ones.
