VB 5.0L manual were actually quite common. It is VC or VH 5.0L manual that are very rare. GMH never even intended to build a 5.0L VC as the new L36 4.2 was so much better than the red L32 courtesy of the Quadrajet and HEI, so initially it was only the VC Police cars that were 5.0L. I remember when we used these as parts mines in the 80's that probably half of the 5.0L VB's I ever came across were manual, similar with HZ Kingswood sedan or wagon with 5.0L. Remember that if you ticked the 5.0L option box in HZ or VB it came standard with M21. From memory there was getting close to 1000 HZ L31 Kingswood manual sedans made but HZ ran longer than VB so I'd expect there to be more HZ than VB. Most of the time we were looking for auto VB 5.0L to get a TH400 or TH350 box as the engine and box were normally going into a cab-chassis or ute - no-one wanted an M21 in a commercial used for carrying load especially if you were running a highway ratio like 3.08 which is what most people seemed to fit in them.

Found these pics of car back in 2008 at Summernats...similar to how I want it to look with 9x5 out the bonnet & smaller tyres so it sits better like in these pics guessing 275/60.

Funny thing that.

In 1983 I spent a week around Sydney looking for a 5.0 4 speed Commodore.

Lots and lots of autos for sale, but couldnt find a manual.

Eventually settled on a 4.2 4 speed VB.

Cheers

Rob
