Sadly Holidays have came to an end, but in the last week of holidays we made lots of progress we

got the car sprayed in primer.

we also welded on the sill on the right side of the car and welded on other pieces to fix rust spots.

Today My Dad and I went to the Torana Show and Shine at Lockley Primary School to gains some motivation seeing that progress lately has been really slow and to also hope and see a car in the colour which i am wanting to paint this Torana.

After looking around at some of the amazing cars I spotted two cars which where painted in the colour i am wanting to paint on my Torana, the colour is Linamint. The reason for me wanting to paint my Torana in Linamint is because after reading through and following a car build on this forum by lc2dr I fell in love with this colour on lc's and fell in love with his car and what he has done with it.

Here is a few picture of the cars that we saw:

20161106_115951_zpsfivmgcpj.jpg

20161106_120939_zpsql3hytba.jpg

20161106_112642_zpsezjxcrro.jpg

When walking back to our car we also saw this parked behind our car which we saw as a sign that we need to do our car in this colour

20161106_123515_zpspulksbrl.jpg

20161106_123554_zpsliouehsn.jpg

Also another one of the reasons why we went to the show and shine was to see what things people have done to their interior but we only really saw LC's with standard seats and standard interiors which still leaves me thinking what sort of aftermarket seats will fit in my Torana?

Ethan, I'm also trying to decide paint colour. At first I wanted to replicate a white 2 door I owned in my youth but think it may be too plain. I am tossing up between "cyan blue" (the colour of a 4dr lj I owned after the white 2 dr) or "Mediterannean Blue" which is from Mackas LC GTR build on this forum a few years ago. One thing I do know is that you WILL NOT be disappointed in choosing Linamint as I have seen Jeffs (Lc2dr) car who is also a forum member, and as you know, photos don't really do the colour justice. To say it looks awesome in the flesh is an understatement. I had a good look at some lj's on display at The Sandown Historics yesterday to also get some ideas. have attached a picture of jeffs LC which I'm sure he won't mind, to help confirm you made the right choice. Good luck to you and your dad with the project, I feel your pain about how long things take but it will be worth it in the long run, cheers paul.

deciding the colour is always the hardest part. Jeffs car is basically my inspiration for this build because it just looks soooo good.

Hi Ethan,

It's nice to know that people have gained some assistance and inspiration from my build and the thread documenting it.  I know I benefited heaps from others who have contributed similarly to the forum.

I totally agree that colour choice is the biggest headache and I wasn't totally convinced until I started putting the car back together.  The intense colour 'softens' a bit when broken up by trim, black highlights, etc.. As you mentioned, the best thing to do is check out a few car shows to see what catches your eye.

Good luck with the rest of the build and keep the pictures coming... :spoton:

Cheers,

Jeff

Hi Ethan.

Good work with the build. Do it once and do it right and you won't be disappointed with the end result.

One question if I may.

Which month of 1970 is your LC's compliance date?

Cheers

Dave.

Been a while have't done much but we have started on the dreaded back left corner which is partly eaten by rust.

I have a question for everyone who has rebuilt an LC Torana

my question is how is end of the sill under the door finished does it join the fender when you install them or do we need to create something else to put on the end?

Ethan, as far as I know Aussie Muscle Car parts no longer make the sill replacement with curved section on the end as their die/tooling broke and havn't made a new one yet., you will need to fabricate one yourself like Jeff did as per examples down the bottom of page one of his thread. let us know how you go as I need to do the same thing, good luck paul.

Was wondering what was weird about those aftermarket sill panels...never clicked missing that end piece & the hole in it with grommet...then lower guard tacks on outside of that.

Best bits of lc coupes aside from wicked metal fronts are the lc gtr interiors. They make the car & with good reason copied often 'cos factory got it right from the start when they lc gtr.

* Yes I'm biased.
