Does it also make a difference if the base coat is light or dark . Say black base would change a finished colour ?

Yep, I left out Super Mint, I did mention Panama. ;)

I suspect L34 & A9X or even SL/R or 5000's weren't released in all the LH & LX colours respectively?

s

You did too! totally missed it.

They may not have built order bank stock in all colours but retail buyers could have ordered any colour on the colour charts plus more if the dealer was influential. For A9X just look in Eric Blair's book for all A9X colours if you want to count them all. They are all there bar the few cars missing.

Yeah I suspected they could be ordered in any colour available to the range but with so few A9X's made I would think there are some colours not put on them due to the colour(s) not selling well in the LX range and popular colours getting the lion's share, excuse the pun.

As much as it's dear, the sikkens paints are a high solid content compared to other paints. Their speal is if you usually need 4 litres, you can do it with 3. It is an exact match for the chatue mauve on the gmh original nos paint chips, ive checked it. They do have a cheaper version called lesonal around $100 / litre cheaper but i haven't checked it. Should be fine on a solid colour, personally i wouldn't clear a non metalic colour. If the spray painter giving the write up previous page, was talking non water borne, old fashioned colours like Barbados & it needed 6 coats, he needs to change paints. If it's standard 2 pack going over a white or grey base whatever was original, it should cover in 3 coats, maximum of 4. Water borne will take more. Mint julep is a awesome colour on an lx, 1 of my favourites ! 1c055 should be the new formula & 1c011 for the barbados, just get your painter to mix 250ml of each & have a look mate. Gary.

Thanks for the info Gary I'll pass it onto the painter, I'll be sure to keep you all up to date with the build. I'm trying to upload a few pics taken to date but I'm having trouble cause the file size of the pics are greater than 1000k

Be sure to get some test samples done, straight and curves surfaces, just so you know if it's the colour you want before it's on the car.

Try opening your pictures in Microsoft Picture Manager and resizing there.

My Barbados Torana is also nearly impossible to take an accurate photo of. It usually comes out too yellow in direct sunlight.
